The official YouTube channel for Reverend Billy, The Church of Earthalujah, & The StopShopping Choir led by director Savitri D. We believe that Consumerism is overwhelming our lives and the planet. We escape the old fundamentalist god but find life itself funny, scary, and it makes the 35 voice Stop Shopping Gospel Choir want to sing and shout! The fires and droughts and quakes and typhoons are not natural disasters but shout-outs from this big living thing we're a part of. Earthalujah!

Consumerism is causing climate change, but now the Earth is unraveling that toxic economy, with a global heatwave featuring cities bursting into flames and 220 mph wind. Now, with the energy of the NYC election outcome and the uprising of Amazonia at COP 30, the Stop Shopping Choir are calling. Join us!

In the last two years, the singers and shouters opened for Neil Young's "love earth tour" in 32 cities across North America, performing a half-hour set for half a million people, a shorter version of the “Can We Be Strange Enough…” show.
The redesign of the traditional ‘opening act’ was produced by Young and Daryl Hannah, designed by director Savitri D. The challenge was to inspire a great number of people who are not necessarily environmentally inclined. A short film from the final show at the Hollywood Bowl on Sept 15 is linked below.

This action was ten years ago in the swamp-lobby of the climate criminal Chase. There was jail & trial for some of the extinct Stop Shopping Golden Toads, all charges eventually dropped. We feel that the frogs and dolphins and their friends in Portland are stunningly effective, BE THE EARTH is a good way to invade back at the colonializations of humanity. Amen? Earthalujah!

This wonderful film by Miranda Zhen-Gao from the choir swings back and forth from the English countryside to Times Square. On the way to Canterbury for a performance, we began our singing together, jamming together on a chant, "Can we be strange enough to change enough?" Soon it evolved into a song and then became the opener in front of that sea of faces on our tour with Neil Young and the Chrome Hearts. There are seeds of transcendent songs everywhere.

This is our Stop Shopping Choir. You can see them harmonizing to lift the preaching. I feel in the last hours of our 5 week tour - such gratitude to Savitri and our fellow travelers; left to right John Carlin, Brandi Thompson, a bit in the shadow you find Shilpa Narayan (we were graced by the presence of Francisca Benítez earlier in the 18-city tour). Then Savi herself, our Director, and then Eric Johnson on drums, Nathan Stephens, bass guitar, and in the foreground Joshua Kawan Nelson, always playing with the singers and the preacher.
Earth-willing, we will return to New York after tomorrow night's Hollywood Bowl show, after our so longs to the community led by Neil Young and Daryl Hannah - a traveling small town of scores of folks who have been so kind to us. We will reunite with our own community, the entire Stop Shopping Choir, with a show at the NYC Quaker Meetinghouse, 5pm Sunday the 21st. Earthalujah! - Billy

On this Labor Day, our dear friend Andy Revkin reminds us that you can't build a sustainable society that functions for all without supporting the makers and caregivers who make things work.

In our interview, Leonard says, "Storms are communication from Mother Earth." He talks with energy and insight, and love, after half a century in political prison.
I'm typing here on the bus with seven of us, the Stop Shopping Choir with the Detroit show tomorrow, the next show in the "love earth tour" with Neil Young and the Chrome Hearts.
Neil sings, "Love Earth, and your Love comes back to you. It's such an easy thing to do."
Emma Goldman says, "Love defies laws ...the most powerful moulder of human destiny."
The Earth moulds cities, breaks walls, somersaults cars... This is Love that breaks the laws that protect the climate-exploding billionaires. The Earth isn’t afraid of them.
The Earth gives us the stormy, fiery force of Love and shows us how to use it.
