Round Table Animation is where 3D animators learn to create cinematic, readable fight scenes for games, film, and online animation.
I'm Cliff. I've spent years studying what makes combat animation actually work, and I break it down so you can build shots you're proud of.
If you're done guessing and ready to animate fights that hit, you're in the right place.
Round Table Animation
40,000.
That number is wild to me.
I know I haven’t always been the most consistent creator, but the fact that so many of you are still here, still watching, still learning, and still rocking with Round Table Animation genuinely means a lot.
This channel started as me sharing what I was figuring out as an animator, and over time it became something bigger: a place for animators who want to make better fight scenes, finish their ideas, and stop feeling like action animation is some impossible thing only “pros” can do.
So seriously, thank you.
Whether you’ve been here since the early Blender tutorials, the Unreal Engine videos, the fight breakdowns, or you just found the channel recently...
Thank you.
You're the reason this is still going.
More coming. The best stuff hasn't dropped yet.

Which fight scene changed how you think about animation?
Not your favorite. The one that actually shifted something for you as an animator.
For me, it was Monty Oum’s Dead Fantasy 2.
The speed, the camera movement, the weapon transitions, the way every character had a completely different rhythm, it made me realize fight animation could feel like choreography, cinematography, and character expression all at once.
It was not just “cool moves.” It felt designed.
That video changed how I thought about timing, spacing, momentum, and how far you could push a fight scene before it stopped feeling readable.
Drop yours below. Genuinely curious what fight scenes rewired people’s brains.

🎯 The #1 Mistake Animators Make in Fight Scenes—and How to Avoid It!
When animating fight scenes, the most common mistake I see is "underestimating the importance of timing."
Here’s why:
Bad timing = Lost Impact: If your punches land too slow or fast, they lose the weight that makes them believable.
No breathing room: Without pauses, your fight looks like a random flurry of movements instead of a purposeful sequence.
✅ How to fix it:
1️⃣ Use timing contrast: Slow down the wind-up, then snap the punch forward for dramatic impact. Think about how boxers telegraph their moves—it’s not just about speed; it’s about rhythm!
2️⃣ Add recovery: After a hit, let your character react and recover. This adds realism and gives the audience time to process.
3️⃣ Test it at half speed: Watch your animation at 50% speed to make sure every movement flows naturally.
What’s your biggest struggle with timing in fight scenes? Let me know below—I’d love to help! 🚀

RIP one of the most influential creators of all time. I remember pausing the TV and trying to draw Goku growing up, bonding through DBZ with my fans and wanting to create characters, fights and ideas as cool as Dragon Ball. Thank you for everything and for influencing countless generations, Akira Toriyama
