It's very important to understand what Israel is after Jesus died on the cross. There is a new covenant. The old covenant was broken not by God, but by all nations including Israel. Israel turned to idolatry and disobedience. With the sacrifice of Christ on the cross, Jesus is King of his Kingdom--made up of Jew and Gentile who repent, are baptized, and follow Jesus's commandments. The promise is the Kingdom. Jesus restores the Jerusalem upon his return as written in Revelation 21.

Pastor Charles Jennings asks the same question I have been asking. If we are commanded by God to bless Israel (it has to do with the covenant with God and the descendants of Abraham who went on to form multiple nations. Abraham's primary descendants formed four nations, and more nations were formed beyond that), which we are not, why is the United States a failing empire considering the money, weapons, laws, and other things we do to promote Israel? He brings up some very good points in his sermon.
