Today, 16 May 2025, my registered account on Wikimedia projects turns 7!

Seven is a good number! At least, as one was made to think.

Within these seven years, I think I have contributed to my society much more than I have contributed to it in my entire existence.

The Wikipedia articles written on the people of Southern Kaduna were scanty and often not lengthy. Today, both Southern Kaduna (w.wiki/EAMo) and the Nigerian Middle Belt (w.wiki/EAMw), a region terrorized by forces of evil from the last decade, have several articles in the English and Tyap Wikipedias that were developed over these seven years that I can spend hours (not exaggerating) just reading through them. They are not perfect, but they are growing.

Wikipedia is where one can pour in all the knowledge and experiences one has gathered in school, at work, and in life, using existing authentic citations to back up, to create articles that the world can read and refill.

Unfortunately, I don't think knowledge is just power. Power to do what exactly? I think knowledge is a raw material that can be used to reshape and reconstruct the decaying human society.

In partnership with Words of Type, the Letterform Archive, and Adobe, the SILICON Type Design Incubator invites students—especially those from Digitally Disadvantaged Language communities—to explore typography in a supportive online program.

Successful Applicants to receive 100% Scholarship, covering course tuition + ALL required course software.

TWO AVAILABLE TRACKS

1. Type Design for Digitally Disadvantaged Non-Latin Languages
2. Decolonizing Latin: Reimagining Typefaces for Languages of the Americas, Africa, and Beyond that Use the Extended Latin Alphabet

Learn from experts, create unique typefaces, and challenge dominant frameworks in type design.

WE ARE SEEKING APPLICANTS WHO ARE:

Curious (or perhaps already passionate!) about type design, but who may lack extensive formal training

From *anywhere* in the world (i.e., this program is NOT limited to Stanford students)
