Hey there! I'm all about diving into the world of kiddos, aged newborn to eight, finding out what makes their learning tick. From bilingual babble to universal preschool and the power of play, I'm on a mission to give little learners the best start. But it's not just about the tiny humans—I'm also cheering on the incredible people who teach them, advocating for their well-being because happy teachers make for thriving classrooms.

I've got a special spot in my heart for the vibrant cultures our immigrant families bring to the table. It's about celebrating and leveraging that diversity to enrich our early childhood spaces.

Join me as I untangle the fascinating threads of early education, all while navigating life as a parent. Because let's face it—how I see the world shapes how my little ones do, too. Expect discoveries, shared experiences, and yes, the occasional parenting chaos. Let's make a difference, one playful step at a time!

This is the question he asked me, as he shuffled back from the kitchen, half-lost in his #Pokémon dreams —a question too big for an 8-year-old’s heart to carry, yet simple enough to halt mine. I wanted to sit him down and tell him, actually, buddy, the real world isn’t like your shows. I wanted to say that in our world, sometimes good people fall, and those who choose the darker path still find ways to hold power. I wanted to explain that Pokémon’s battles of light and dark aren't like the reality of police brutality, or the terrifying possibility of an active shooter in his elementary school hallway.

But instead, all I managed was a quiet “Uhn buddy, that’s an interesting question.” And just like that, he shrugged and returned innocently to his screen, his carefree world where good triumphs every time.

You know it's been a week and all my brain could listen to are the themes of #LordoftheRings, letting their echoes of resilience fill the quiet spaces of my mind. The way hope teeters on the edge of despair, only to rise, stubborn and fierce, just when it’s needed most. That’s the hope I choose to hold onto right now—for him, for all of us.

As a research scientist, so much of my work is digging into the historical layers of whatever I’m studying. And boy, do people go to great lengths to bury those dark chapters they’re too afraid to shed light on. But uncovering those hidden truths? That’s where the real story—and the real understanding—begins. #SundaySense #ThoughtsoftheDay

Mind you, I avoid exposing them to political news like it’s the plague. And yet, here I am, trying to raise them to be good people, while 70 million others seem to favor a leader who’s immune to consequences, accountability, and basic decency. So tell me what’s the point? Why? Are we doing them a disservice by teaching them to be kind and compassionate when the real world rewards leaders who are mean and feel they are above the law? If this is the lesson God intends for our young sons—that being a leader is being a bully who is immune to BASIC MORALES and characters—then keep it going👏🏾. Because it looks like one hell of a future if everyone starts acting like assholes to each other and no one is accountable to anyone or anything🫤. #FridayFeeling #FridayFury #ParentingIn2024

🤦🏾‍♀️ So, I try to stay out of 6-year-old first graders’ drama as much as possible. Trust me, so do their teachers! 💁🏾‍♀️ But this one got me so fascinated, especially as an early childhood expert.

Okay, so here’s what happened at their classmate’s last birthday party of the school year. Between our arrival and cake time, Timi told me that one of their classmates’ grandpa had passed away the night before. This sweet kid told some classmates but not the birthday girl, rationalizing that they didn’t want to ruin her special day. I was almost in tears at these first graders' emotional and sympathetic maturity.

Moments like these restore my faith in humanity. Especially with everything going on in the world right now and the grown-ups running it lacking this level of empathy. These kids, with their emotional and empathetic capacity, give me hope for a kinder future. Who knew a 6-year-old’s birthday party could turn into a lesson in emotional intelligence?

4 days away from home, and I devoured Àmàlà like a hungry lioness! 🤦🏾‍♀️🤭🫣 You can take the Naija out of Nigeria, but you can’t take the Naija out of her! 😂 #TastyTuesday #Foodie #NaijaFood

I’m kinda starting to enjoy being a boy mom…They now push me to do things I’d normally sit out. Climbing walls in the safety of an enclosed building? Sure, sounds nice. But when your 8-year-old says, “Come climb a giant wall while looking over a massive load of water on a floating Titanic container,” well, you do it!🫣😂🚢 It was my first-time wall climbing on a cruise, and I couldn’t be prouder (or more terrified)! #MondayMotivation #MondayMood #BoyMom #royalcaribbeancruise #CruiseLife Captured With #RaybanMetaGlasses #allureoftheseas

When it's Mommy's turn to be brave! I mean, we were already on a giant floating Titanic container... so what's the worst that could happen? 💁🏾‍♀️😂🤭 Conquering my fear and zip lining for the first time on a cruise! Who knew I had it in me? 🚢💪🏾 #SundaySkills #SkillfulSunday #MomLife #CruiseLife #RoyalCaribbeanCruise #SundayFunday

As every other time I go on a work trip, this week wasn't different in how I reflect on how these experiences affect us as working moms. For me, it's all the things I have to do before I leave to make sure my very capable husband has all he needs to make the kids' life function as normal as possible like I didn't leave and all the things I have to catch up with when I get back. #workingmom #thoughtoftheday #ThoughtfulThursday #postwithpurpose #selfdrivingcars #tesla captured with #RayBanMetaSmartGlasses

Trying to be perfect is a goal not worth aspiring to. Being gracious and accepting yourself as you are is a much better option.

🤗 Oh, how I love Fridays! I mean, it doesn’t make much difference for me because my graduate student self is usually buried in the library all weekend 🫣🤪. But still, the weekend brings this indescribable feeling of freedom. Plus, it's a break from being a mom of two boys who somehow turn into little hurricanes by Saturday morning! 😂 #FridayFeeling #TGIF #WorkingMoms #FridayVibes #WeekendVibes #MorningMotivation #SelfLove #SelfMotivation
