On September 17, I lost my grandma.

It was also my birthday.

She was like a second mother to me.

She cooked for me, took care of me every time I got sick, woke me up every day for school from preschool to 12th grade, and ultimately shaped me into who I am today.

I flew home as soon as I could to see her, and I stayed with her, holding her hand, until the very end.

Although I’ll have to carry this with me every year, I’m genuinely so happy she made it that far. When I saw her that day, she still remembered to tell me “happy birthday,” even through everything she was going through. She was the strongest woman I knew.

This is my first time experiencing such a significant loss. I had to take a break from social media. I uploaded a new vlog last week, but it was already pre-edited. It’s been a full week since we said goodbye to her, and I’m slowly starting to pick things up again. Please bear with me.

Please also take time to spend time with your loved ones. There may not always be a “next time.”
