🥹 One of my subscribers paid 75k INR to learn DevOps and still regrets it!

When you're trying to learn something as complex and in-demand as DevOps, it can feel like you're drowning in options. 🤯

→ Do you shell out big bucks for a bootcamp?
→ Hunt for an affordable course?
→ Dive headfirst into free YouTube tutorials?
→ Or just tough it out with endless documentation?

Honestly, it’s a tough call, and there's no single "right" answer for everyone.

But then I saw this comment from one of my subscribers, and it really hit.

This resonated so much because it perfectly captures a common frustration. This person paid 75,000 INR across three different institutes and still felt like he wasn't getting the detailed, valuable explanations he needed.

And then they found the content on my YouTube channel and felt genuinely helped, for free.

It makes you think, doesn't it?
Sometimes, the most expensive path isn't always the best path.

And that's exactly why I started my YouTube channel. My goal has always been to break down complex DevOps topics—like CI/CD, Terraform, Azure DevOps, Kubernetes, etc., which is what the subscriber was talking about—into clear, detailed, and accessible lessons.

No gatekeeping, no hidden fees, just valuable education for anyone who wants to learn.

You can find a ton of in-depth tutorials, walkthroughs, and explanations there that I pour my heart into, absolutely free. Because everyone deserves quality learning, regardless of their budget.

But I also know that some folks prefer a more structured, all-in-one approach. Maybe you want everything laid out from A to Z, with quizzes and exercises to really cement the knowledge. For those who want that comprehensive, guided journey, I do have a Udemy course. And trust me, Hitesh Choudhary and I made sure it's always available at a heavily discounted price. Because, again, it comes back to that core belief: free or affordable education for everyone.

I am not against the premium high-priced courses; every creator deserves the right to set the price as per them. However, I feel like entry barrier should be low so that anyone can join and learn.

So, whether you're just starting your DevOps journey or looking to deepen your skills, don't feel pressured to break the bank. Explore all your options. Dive into the documentation. Check out free resources. And if you're curious, come hang out on my YouTube channel – you might just find exactly what you've been looking for, without spending a single rupee.

We are now 80k strong on YouTube 💪

(long post alert) 🚨

When I started my channel 4 years back, I did not think even a single person will watch my videos

Then I realized my parents are watching each and every video even though they don't understand much English.

Till today, they watch all my videos, no matter the length.
That was the biggest motivation for me to start.

What kept me going? Many people would say it's the money, but only a content creator would understand how much YT ads pay for a small channel like mine.

If you keep doing it for money, you will be burned out soon and think, "Is it even worth it?"

Why do I do it then? I do it because it helps me with upskilling myself and doing something for the community, and when I get messages like "Your videos helped me get a job" or "It helped me get the promotion," etc., it just makes my day beautiful. Now I have a motivation, a purpose, and the power to keep doing it.

It gives me dopamine, the same reason why we watch TV or play video games for hours—because it gives us instant gratification/a dopamine kick.

I spend more than I earn; I have a team of 5 amazing people who help me grow this channel. I was doing all of these by myself, but I was burning out; I was hardly getting any sleep, so I had to bring in more people to help me speed up the content delivery.

Everything comes at a cost; I have to pay them recurring salaries, and sometimes I have to do it out of my pocket, as the ad revenue is not sufficient.

With a 9-5 job, family, 2 kids, and other house chores, there's literally no time left to create content. I had to take some decisions and stopped watching TV, cricket matches, and anything that doesn't fall in these 3 categories. Friends and family, office and self-learning, health and future.

I started waking up at 4 in the morning, as that's the only time when my kids are sleeping. Now, I record all my videos early morning (7 days a week); I wake up before the sun ☀️ and it changed my life.

YouTube has not just helped me with content creation but also given me access to the amazing educators in the field who have always supported me , guided me, and mentored me in this journey. Forever thankful for everyone

Last but not least, my better half, Himani Chauhan who supported me for everything I do or plan to do. It wouldn't have been possible without her. ❤️

I am not sure whether I'd hit the 100k mark before the year ends, but I'm putting all my power into making that happen. A lot of interesting and most requested playlists are on the way.

Thank you for all the support. Forever grateful ❤️

You just have to trust the process!

Your goal should not be to get into FAANG or a remote job or work from home with good pay or YC startups. Your goal should be to upskill, whatever it takes.

You should be creating the system that works for you in the long run, no shortcuts , no roadmap to success in 21 days , no click bait scheme. Only a system that takes from one place to another.

Today I completed 13 Years in IT: My Raw, Unfiltered Lessons 🚀

From wide-eyed beginner to seasoned professional, I've learned some invaluable lessons that I wish someone had shared with me earlier.

I hope these insights inspire and empower you.

🎯 Here's what I've learned:

↳ Don't bail on a bad job too soon. 😩 Use that frustration as fuel to upskill and land something truly better. It's an incredible motivator!

↳ Prioritize growth over busywork. Spend more time on personal development and learning than staying late just because others are. Your career thanks you later.

↳ Promotions are earned, not given. You get promoted when you're already crushing the duties of the next level. Show, don't just tell.

↳ Go beyond your day-to-day. 💡 Regular tasks won't cut it for promotions. Take on extra initiatives like mentoring juniors, building automation that helps the whole company, or finding ways to save time and money.

↳ Invest in your team. Train and mentor junior resources. Lifting others up builds a stronger foundation for everyone.

↳ Speak up! Have a strong opinion and be vocal in meetings. Your insights are valuable.

↳ Network within and beyond your team. Strong relationships open doors and foster collaboration.

↳ Master your career path with your manager. 🤝 Schedule regular one-on-ones to discuss goals, aspirations, and expectations. Document everything! This avoids end-of-year surprises.

↳ Explore internal moves first. If you're happy with your tech stack but need a change, look for opportunities within your current company before jumping ship.

↳ Let your work do the talking. Stay out of office politics. Your results are your loudest advocate.

↳ Embrace a learning mindset. 🧠 Stay curious, keep upskilling, and never stop learning. The tech world evolves too fast not to!

↳ Think before you act (especially in production!). Twice, thrice... until you're 100% sure. Caution is your best friend here.

↳ Have the courage to say "no." Your company is not your family; your family is. Prioritize them. ❤️

↳ Collaborate, don't just compete. Build good relationships with your peers. Appreciate them, help them when needed, and remember you're on the same team.

↳ Be respectful to everyone. Period.

↳ Cool down before you send that email. 📧 If you're angry, draft it, then re-read it when you're calmer. You'll thank yourself later.

↳ Be humble when answering questions. Someone asking a "stupid" question might simply have different strengths. They're with you because they earned their spot.

↳ Track your wins daily. At the end of each day, jot down your accomplishments. This makes performance reviews a breeze and reminds you of your impact.

↳ Don't burn out, communicate! If you're overloaded, talk to your manager. Prioritize tasks and keep them in the loop. Your well-being comes first.

Did I miss anything, or would you like to add anything? I'd love to hear your lessons learned! 👇
