Applications are open for SAFEST — School in Agriculture, Forest and Environmental Geodata Statistical Analysis, Modelling and Machine Learning, organised by the University of Pisa.

SAFEST is an intensive, full-time school designed for students, researchers and professionals who want to strengthen their skills in statistical analysis, modelling and machine learning applied to agricultural, forest and environmental geodata.

The programme runs Monday–Thursday, 9:00–16:00, and Friday, 9:00–14:00.

If you work with agriculture, forestry, environmental sciences, geodata, statistics, modelling, data science or machine learning, SAFEST is an opportunity to develop quantitative skills in an interdisciplinary environment in Pisa.

🌱 Soil Health in Practice @ EGU26 (Session SSS10.9)

Healthy soils underpin food security, biodiversity, climate adaptation, and resilient livelihoods. Yet progress is often limited by fragmented monitoring systems, low interoperability, and uneven soil awareness.

Session SSS10.9 – Soil Health in Practice brings together scientists, practitioners, data stewards, and policy actors to:
• compare soil health and monitoring frameworks across land uses and soil horizons
• assess integrated physical, chemical, and biological indicators (including subsoil functions)
• share soil awareness and literacy strategies
• advance harmonisation of methods and databases under FAIR principles
• link soil health to social, economic, and ecosystem impacts

Supported by SHARInG-MeD, SOILS4MED, and SUS-SOIL, the session welcomes contributions from research, Living Labs, monitoring initiatives, and policy actions.

The @sus-soil ​🌱 unit leaders visiting the SHARInG-MeD experimental field 🚜on organic amendment and beneficial microbes on the Pisa: 20th June 2025

#SUSSOIL is a #Horizon project and #SHARInGMeD is funded by PrimaProgram ‪@prima-medyoutube7047‬

During the visit, a 70 cm deep hole was made in the soil, to observe the soil variation in depth. SUS-SOIL ​🌱 samples up to 100 cm by window sample. SHARInG-MeD 🚜 samples up to 30 cm by bulk density ring cores...

...…and indeed, soil host a great biodiversity capable of supporting crop growth and production!!!

Debates were made to better deliver the innovation to the farmers and improve their yield, profit, and sustainability

SHARInG-MeD will actively collaborate with SUS-SOIL and will support 🚜🍓 @agrosalute 👨‍🌾👩‍🌾and engage with the other living labs in SUS-SOIL to support the profit, sustainability and resilience in the #European and #Mediterranean Systems

Il Dipartimento di Scienze Veterinarie di Pisa 🐕🐈 dell'Università di Pisa 🌇organizza un WEBINAR sul ruolo delle donne in agricoltura la mattina del 6 marzo 2024. Tale attività è volta nell’ambito dei progetti 🌱 SHARInG-MeD (linktr.ee/sharingmed) e 🚜 SUS SOIL (www.sus-soil.eu/) e del Co-Creation Lab (CCL3) Interazione Animali-Ambiente del Progetto d’Eccellenza 🐮Open Science in Co Creative Animal Research (#OSCAR). Le nuove sfide che il mondo della produzione primaria affronta nel contesto globale vedono le donne impegnate in prima linea in maniera determinante. Il convegno si propone di condividere i principali aspetti della multifunzionalità dell’attività agricola e casi di successo che hanno visto idee ed esempi realizzati da imprenditrici del settore agricolo e agroalimentare. Dopo i saluti istituzionali sarà data parola a tutte le imprenditrici che interverranno in una breve descrizione di presentazione della propria attività. Il convegno si concluderà con un momento di confronto e discussione che coinvolgerà tutti i partecipanti.
