So, the Analogue 3D…

Yes, I preordered one, and yes I’m excited to see what it will do. Admittedly I have almost no experience with FPGA or emulation in general. I’m fairly uneducated about the subject matter. But this machine is what stopped me from plopping down hundreds on an HDMI mod - this seems like the ultimate way to play N64.

Then the delays, lack of clarity around the machine, and general mystery left so many to assume the worst. But my experience with Analogue has only been positive so I remain optimistic.

I also have been tempering expectations. I’m not sure exactly what this machine will do and how it will do it. Ultimately: Can anything beat playing a console like the N64 on a CRT with original hardware? I doubt it.

But it’s also not very practical either for most people to play carts on an original console on a CRT. So the Analogue may get people playing more and more N64.

I really don’t know what to expect, but I’ll say this: I’m optimistic…if a bit cautious. I’m sure there’ll be some bugs and imperfections, but I’m pretty forgiving about most of that stuff fresh out the gate.

How about you? Did you preorder the Analogue 3d? Where are you at right now on everything? Excited? Regretful?
