Groundbreaking book, Sex Work Policy: Participatory Action Research By and For Sex Workers is available now on Amazon! We've worked so hard on this and are so excited to finally share it with our community. The paperback and Kindle versions are available today, and the hardback version will be available in the next couple of days. www.amazon.com/dp/B0DBR2TMPR
This book brings together the lived experiences and recommendations of over 2000 US sex workers and sex trafficking survivors who participated in six surveys to create an essential policy primer for activists and policymakers.
It's already getting rave reviews!
“This book is an essential resource for anyone serious about combating sex trafficking. The data comes from six sex worker-led surveys conducted across the U.S., offering essential information on demographics, crime, safety, health, stigma, and needed social services. Each chapter combines this community-driven data with compelling narratives and ends with actionable recommendations. The findings clearly demonstrate that sex worker led research is crucial to shaping effective and informed policies.” - Barbara Brent's, PhD
“An illuminating book that should be required reading for anyone proposing policies that affect sex workers or anyone writing about sex work. While steeped in data, the book is also eminently easy and engaging to read. By surveying sex workers across the country and across sex-work types, the research included in Sex Work Policy provides vital perspectives often lacking from mainstream discourse around sex work and sex trafficking and, crucially, lets these workers speak for themselve about what would do them the most good. The result is a refreshingly nuanced exploration of issues facing sex workers and a resounding reminder that many of our current policies are not serving anyone well.” - Elizabeth Nolan Brown
“This work is a critical resource for policymakers, activists, and academics, providing a clear and empathetic examination of how well-meaning laws can have unintended consequences. The lived experiences shared by sex workers make the book compelling and insightful, pushing for more humane, rights-based approaches to sex work policy. “- Alex Andrews

Do check out Unaqsiq video on the missing and murdered women in #Alaska. She and other activists have done a great job of helping identify recent missing Cassandra Boskofsky. Anchorage Police Dept. found photos of her on convicted killer Brian Steven Smith's phone in 2019 and failed to identify her. Those photos were released to the public in his sentencing report where activist called on the police to identify her.
Here is the timeline of events that lead to this point:
Cassandra's family reported her missing Sept. 1, 2019.
APD found photos on BSS phone Oct. 7, 2019 and did not make any attempt to ask the public for help identifying her.
March 26, 2024: Found the initial Hybrid witness filing that mentioned these photos that were taken on Brian Steven Smith’s iPhone between September 16-22, 2019.
April 1, 2024: Activist started calling and emailing APD to ask who this unknown woman was in the photos and asked them to make a forensic sketch to ask the public for help identifying her
April 2, 2024: APD reached out to the FBI to ask them for assistance with doing a forensic sketch
July 2, 2024: APD received the finished forensic sketch from the FBI
July 3, 2024: The crime scene photos and sketch were filed in the State’s sentencing memorandum where they became public record.
July 5, 2024: Went to the courthouse and got the sentencing memorandum with the crime scene photos and forensic sketch attached.
July 6, 2024: A member of our team emailed APD to tell them that we think the unknown woman in those photos is Cassandra Boskofsky because of the tattoo on her neck and similarities between Cassandra and the photos.
July 6, 2024: Detective Brendan Lee reached out to Cassandra’s family to show one of the photos and they confirmed that is was her and they did not think she was alive in those photos.
July 13, 2024: Cassandra’s family filed a Presumptive Death Petition to the court to have Cassandra declared deceased.
Please listen to the following gross miscarriage of justice facts regarding this lack of investigation for Cassandra Lee Boskofsky She has been identified but remains missing. www.tiktok.com/@alaska.mmip #mmip #Alaskammip #BrianStevenSmith
