WHEN MARRIAGE AND MOTHERHOOD SLOWS YOU DOWN AS A TAILOR

Many female tailors were doing so well when they were single
Consistent with their sewing, learning new styles, getting clients, and building their brand

But after marriage and especially after giving birth,
Everything changed.

They’re now struggling to keep up.
The passion is still there, but the energy is not the same.

Some have even dropped sewing completely, not because they want to,
But because life got too busy and overwhelming.

I understand this very well because I’ve been there too.

But here’s what I’ve learned, and I want you to hold this close:

You don’t have to do it all at once. Just don’t stop completely.

Let me share some practical advice that helped me:

1. EMBRACE YOUR NEW SEASON
You’re no longer the single girl with all the free time.
You’re now a wife and a mother, and that’s a blessing, not a burden.
Your pace might change, but your purpose hasn’t. Accept that this season is different, and give yourself grace.

2. ADJUST, DON’T ABANDON
Instead of quitting sewing, adjust how you show up.
Maybe you now sew only twice a week, or you focus more on learning online.
Even if it’s 1 dress a week, keep your hands on the machine.

3. SET SMALL, CLEAR GOALS
You don’t need to do 10 things, Start with 1
Finish that online course. Create a sewing corner at home.
Post your work online once a week.
Small wins build big momentum.

4. GET SUPPORT
You’re not weak for asking for help.
If you can, involve your spouse or family even if it’s just to help watch the kids for some hours.

Find a fellow tailor mum who understands your journey. Don’t isolate yourself.

5. STAY CONNECTED TO YOUR “WHY”
Why did you start sewing in the first place?
What kind of life do you want for your children?
Let that reason fuel your steps, no matter how small.

Mama, you might be slower now, but you’re not disqualified.
