📖🔎 Scripture Focus: Hoshea 10:1-2 / Jeremiah 2:20-21 ISR

Hoshea 10:1) Yisra'el is a degenerate vine, he brings forth fruit for himself.

2) As his fruit increased, he increased the altars. And the better his land, the better they made the pillars.

Jeremiah 2:20) For of old you have broken your yoke and tore of your bonds. And you said, ‘I am not serving You!’ when on every high hill and under every green tree you lay down, a whore.

21) Yet I had planted you a choice vine, all of it a true seed. How then have you turned before Me into the degenerate plant of a strange vine?

❓️ What does it look like to become a degenrate vine?

❓️What do pillars and altars look like today in our modern era?

❓️ What is spiritual unfaithfulness towards Yahweh and how do we change that?

📖🔎 Scripture Focus: Hebrews 12:5-11 WEB

5) You have forgotten the exhortation which reasons with you as with children, “My son, don’t take lightly the chastening of Yahweh, nor faint when you are reproved by him;

6) for whom Yahweh loves, he disciplines, and chastises every son whom he receives.”

7) It is for discipline that you endure. Elohim deals with you as with children, for what son is there whom his father doesn’t discipline?

8) But if you are without discipline, of which all have been made partakers, then you are illegitimate, and not children.

9) Furthermore, we had the fathers of our flesh to chasten us, and we paid them respect. Shall we not much rather be in subjection to the Father of Spirits and live?

10) For they indeed for a few days disciplined us as seemed good to them, but he for our profit, that we may be partakers of his holiness.

11) All chastening seems for the present to be not joyous but grievous; yet afterward it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.

🤔💭 Some things to ponder on:

❓️ How do you feel when you are reproved by Yahweh (either through reading the Word or receiving correction through a fellow brother)?

❓️Do you find yourself consistently "fainting" at Yahweh's rebukes in your life or accepting the correction, renewing your mind, and walking in repentance?

❓️ Do you prefer that Yahweh disciplines you in gentlenesd or in his wrath?

❓️In what areas are you still striving against Yahweh's chastisment in your life?
