Chasing the Blues

Welcome to Chasing the Blues.

This channel is about discovery.

Blues is where my journey begins, but great music doesn't stop there. Together we'll discover incredible musicians, unforgettable stories, and the songs that inspire us to keep exploring no matter the genre.

Every episode I'll introduce you to a few songs, a few stories, and hopefully its enough to spark your curiosity. My hope is that you'll leave wanting to dive deeper and discover these incredible musicians for yourself.

Some will be legends who changed music forever. Others will be extraordinary musicians who simply haven't found the audience they deserve.

The beautiful thing about music is that it brings us all together. It doesn't matter who you are, where you come from, or how old you are. A great guitarist has a way of inspiring us all, no matter where we come from.

So come with me. Let's discover some incredible music together.

πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ͺ This channel has introduced me to so many incredible Swedish musicians, so I thought it would be fun to create a Swedish Guitar Mount Rushmore.

First of all... sorry if I've upset anyone. πŸ˜…

How close am I?

Are we building it... or am I getting fired and kicked out of Sweden for good? πŸ˜‚

Who are your four? πŸŽΈπŸ‘‡

RIP Bonnie Tyler. ❀️

One of the most distinctive voices in music, and a singer whose songs will live on for generations.

Thank you for the music. Rest easy. 🎡

Chasing the Blues

πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ͺ A few weeks ago I'd never even heard of Tommy Johansson.
Then all of a sudden it felt like Sweden had found my YouTube channel. πŸ˜‚
So many of you kept recommending Tommy that eventually I thought... right, I'd better find out who this guy is.
The deeper I dug into Tommy's story, the more I realised this wasn't going to be a quick video. It ended up becoming the biggest Chasing the Blues project I've taken on so far.
There was so much i had to leave out because the video had to end somewhere but
I genuinely hope I've done Tommy's story justice. πŸŽΈπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ͺ

πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ Happy Canada Day! πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦
I might be Irish, but I've called Canada home for the last 13 years, so today feels like the perfect day to say thank you.
Today also marks another little milestone for me...
I hit 200 subscribers. πŸŽ‰
I know that's a tiny number in the world of YouTube, but to me its huge.
Whether you're watching from Canada, Sweden, the United States, the UK, Ireland, or anywhere else in the world, thank you for every view, every comment, every artist recommendation, and every bit of encouragement. Seeing the same names pop up in the comments every videos and getting to chat with you has been one of the best parts of starting this channel.
The Tommy Johansson video is coming along really nicely. I've gone down a few unexpected rabbit holes already, and I think you're going to enjoy this one.
It'll hopefully be live Saturday or Sunday
Thank you for being part of the journey.

Well... I think we have a clear winner!! πŸ†

I honestly wasn't expecting Tommy to run away with it like that!

Looks like Team Tommy showed up in force. πŸ˜„πŸŽΈ

I can't wait to dive into his story, his influences, and see where this rabbit hole takes us.

Thank you all for voting! 🀘

Chasing the Blues

First off, thank you to everyone who watched the Tommy Johansson video and left comments. I genuinely wasn't expecting that video to do as well as it did.

You guys somehow sent me down a Swedish musician rabbit hole, and honestly, it's been awesome. 🀣

This week's episode was supposed to be a deep dive into Gary Moore, but I got completely distracted. Between researching Gary and discovering Tommy Johansson, I kept finding more and more Swedish musicians talking about Gary as a massive influence on them.

That's kind of what I mean when I talk about "branches." I start with one musician, then discover another musician they influenced, then another, and before I know it I've got 20 browser tabs open and I've completely lost track of where I started. πŸ˜‚

A few names kept popping up over and over again:

🎸 Tommy Johansson

🎸 John Norum

🎸 Erik Grânwall

So before this week I'd never heard of John Norum or Erik GrΓΆnwall, and apart from the reaction video, I really don't know much about Tommy either.

Part of me thinks I should finish the Gary Moore episode first. The other part of me thinks it would be really interesting to explore one of these branches and learn a bit more about Gary's influence before I finish the video.

So I thought I'd ask the community.

What should I do next?
