Here we are, in the aftermath of the unthinkable. The passing of Diogo Jota and his brother André Silva has cast a shadow over our lives, and reminded us all of just how trivial and unimportant football can be.
As is the nature of grief, we are all attempting to meet it at our own level, to process it at our own speed. As the Liverpool players return to training, and attempt to somehow regain some semblance of normality, here at Redmen, we too must work out how best to proceed.
The reality though, is that I have no idea what the best way to proceed is. There is no “best way”.
In the fifteen years of producing Redmen TV, we have never faced a tragedy on this scale before. There is no handbook for situations like this. There will be some of you who are ready to move on and/or feel a need to, and there will be some who will very much feel the exact opposite. I respect both sides, and the full spectrum in between.
In consultation with the rest of the team here at Redmen, the decision we’ve come to is less of a specific plan of action and more an overall ethos. That ethos is “slowly and sensitively.”
Our intent over the coming days and weeks is to ease back into content production, to judge things day-by-day and to set our pace by the football club.
The deaths of Diogo Jota and André Silva have had a profound effect on us all, and we are in no hurry to bluster forward as though this isn’t the case.
In the meantime, If you are struggling with the situation and need someone to talk to, or if you have any ideas for how we can honour the memory of Diogo and André, please do not hesitate to reach out.
Next month, we are heading to DUBLIN, BELFAST & CORK for three amazing live shows. These are the best LFC night outs you can have, with fun, laughs and amazing Liverpool anthems from Marc Kenny!
