Srishtika Sriram

Today, history was made.

The 71st Acharya of the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham was initiated into Sanyasa Ashrama. A rare moment that most of us will witness just once in our lifetime.

The last time it happened, I wasn’t even born!

Over the past few days, I’ve been closely following the rituals and preparations. And as the sacred rites happened today, my thoughts kept going to one place...

Not just to the new Acharyal, but to the FAMILY he left behind.

His Poorvashrama parents. His sister.

Can we even call them that after this? How did they even process this? How do you put words to something like this?

Sanyasa is not just a spiritual milestone. It is a renunciation of the highest order. A Tapas. A calling that only a few are born for. And while a Mahaan may take to it with calm and clarity, their family is left with the ache of letting go.

To give away your son...your own child...to Dharma and to Desha...and never get to claim him back. That kind of strength is beyond understanding. It is not a one-day sacrifice. It is a forever surrender.

Yes, many families have done this before. But today I saw it with my own eyes. I saw a mother, a father, and a sister show the kind of courage that does not shout. It just stays still, holds steady and quietly offers.

Today, the Poorvashrama family offered their son to the Peetham with no promise of return. No farewells. Just surrender.

What a blessing it is to raise a child who becomes a Jagadguru! How many wombs get to birth a Jagadguru? How many hands get to pat such a divine child to sleep? And yet...what a heartbreak it must be that was once yours now belongs entirely to the world.

Even as the rituals drew everyone's attention to the center, my eyes kept going again and again to the side. To the parents. To the sister. I did not have the words. Just silence. And a deep, deep gratitude sank in my heart.

To the Poorvashrama family of our new Acharyal - humblest pranams. May Bhagawan and our Guru Parampara bless you endlessly and protect you forever.

Today, your sacrifice lit the path for generations to come.
