Welcome to SkeetGuitar.
Most guitar instruction is focused on 'more'—more songs, more speed, more noise. But if you’ve hit a plateau, 'more' isn't the answer.
Here, we take The Steady Path.
I help beginners and returning players move past frustration by focusing on the diagnostics of play. We treat songs as vehicles for transferable skills, focusing on the mechanics of ease so that the music can finally take care of itself.
If you are looking for a grounded, low-pressure environment to build a real foundation, you’ve found it.
Join the Community: For those who want to dive deeper into these mechanics between my weekly lessons, I host The Steady Practice Club—a private membership designed to turn 'messy' practice into consistent, musical progress.

I’ve noticed so many solo players struggle with the same thing: sounding "flat" during instrumental breaks. When you’re playing on your own, what is the hardest part about trying to add a melody into your strumming?

The hardest part of Landslide isn't the picking—it’s the Am7 to D/F# transition.
I call this a "pivotal" chord change because it’s the moment you choose to go back to the verse or head into the chorus. The trick is the "Kick-Up"—moving your middle finger to the ceiling while keeping the rhythm pulse alive.
If you’ve been getting stuck on that transition, I’ve got a dedicated drill for you in the new lesson. Go grab your guitar and let’s fix that change together.

TRAVIS PICKING TIP: Is your picking hand "floating" and losing its place?
In my latest Landslide lesson, I break down the Anchor Technique. By resting your pinky and ring finger on the high E string (which isn't played in this song), you create a solid "bedrock" for your thumb to move accurately across the bass strings.
It feels strange at first, but it’s the secret to speed and stability. Have you tried anchoring your fingers, or do you prefer a "floating" hand?

I often say that songs are just "vehicles" for learning real, transferable guitar skills. When you learn a masterpiece like Fleetwood Mac’s Landslide, are you more focused on memorizing the tabs for that specific song, or are you looking for the techniques (like the "Anchor" or the "Kick-Up") that you can use on any song?
If you want to see how I break down Landslide into these "pivotal" skills, check out the full masterclass here: https://youtu.be/XdaH_8bAjiw

It’s the weekend—the perfect time to stop "running through" and start "targeting." 🎯🎸
If you’ve got 20 minutes today, don’t play the whole song. Pick one transition that’s been bugging you and apply the Isolation Loop. What’s the one thing you’re going to fix before Monday?
Let me know in the comments! 👇

Can you hold your chord shape in the air? 🖐️🌬️
One of the biggest secrets to clean chord changes isn't pressing harder—it's "Hovering." If you can take your fingers off the fretboard, maintain the exact shape in the air, and then drive them back down together, you've won. If your fingers "collapse" or hunt for strings one by one, that's where the buzzing and the "sticky moments" happen.
Try the "Pump & Hover" with your trouble chord today and let me know if it helps!

Be honest... when you hit a "fluff" or a wrong note during practice, what do you usually do? 🎸🤔
I used to be guilty of "Dopamine Practicing"—just playing the whole song because it felt good, even if I messed up the middle. But that’s actually how you rehearse the mistake.
How do you handle the "sticky moments"?
