What a great way to come back onto the scene with this little teaser B2B set with @SKEPTAOFFICIAL in Miami.
Played so many new I.D.s i cant even share the video… I’ll be in New York this weekend for my college reunion. I will be just walking around the city all Friday just taking photos and shopping and eating fresh bagels and all of it. I’m getting ready for this Life of leisure tour launch / EP release party at the Knockdown Center in NY on April 25th.
There will be no hiding the I.D.s after that you can hear them all in person on the tour!
I've taken a 2 year hiatus but I'm back with a new mindset. "Life of Leisure" is not a flex, its a state of mind. It doesn’t have anything to do with money or status. It means being free in your own head, doing what you want and saying no to everything else. You the are the heroes, i'm just the guide.
Join me on the dance-floor for a little vacation from fear, anxiety and stress. All the shit that brings us down on a day to day basis gets left at the door.
In 2006 I probably had less than 1000 hours DJing in front of people and yet I was already flying to London and Berlin to play in front of the most discerning crowds in the world. Let’s just say I learned in real time, the hard way on the road. The man, Pete Tong tapped me in 2007 to record what was then known as the biggest mix you could do “The Essential Mix.” Lucky for me I was making some of the best music of my career and feeling incredibly creative. Right now feels like back then all over again I’m back in the studio feeling really good and I can’t wait for you to hear it all very soon. For now this mix will have to do. (Yes I posted it before but I think it’s a great throwback.)
I was never the coolest kid but I always loved music. I played the cello and sometimes my parents made me dress up like I was going to Harvard. (We all knew that was never going to happen.) I was always drawing little characters and pretending to be from a different planet. I got my first jambox in my own room when I was about 8 and it was all over after that. I listened to silly shows like Uncle Vic when i was really young in Cleveland but then, the real growth came in Detroit - as a kid listening to the Electrifying Mojo. He played all the most influential music that shaped the rest of my life from Parliament to Juan Atkins to Public Enemy. I didn't always feel good about my path. It's been a long road with lots of twists and turns ups and downs but recently, I've been feeling really blessed and happy. So I thought I'd poke a little fun at myself and unearth some of the archives.
Check out this music video for my brand new original track "My Love Check" featuring the city of Detroit, shot by one of my best friends, Anthony Garth and edited by "The Bens." The track debuts on Carl Craig's amazing Detroit Love compilation which is out Friday!!
Shout out to the women of Dirtybird Records running the show. I may be the one that’s center stage, but it if it weren’t for these ladies none of it would be possible. Happy International Women’s Day.
