From the 19th century onward - figures like #IdaBWells being a clear example - speaking truth, documenting injustice, and refusing silence often came with retaliation. What we’re seeing here echoes that legacy.
When journalists are pursued not for falsehoods, but for scrutiny, it should concern all of us. This is exactly why we have to pay attention, stay engaged, and continue defending freedom of speech - not just in theory, but in practice.
