Why you shouldn’t let other people’s opinions run your life

Here’s something worth remembering: even the most celebrated public figures, people who took real risks, changed their industries, or left a lasting mark, are mourned for a short time when they die. A week or two, maybe a few headlines… and then the world quietly carries on.

If they, with all their fame and achievement, can be so quickly forgotten, why let the fear of what others might think stop you doing what matters to you?

In a hundred years, nobody will care if you switched careers, took that trip, wore something unusual, or failed at a bold idea. The only real regret will be knowing you held back because of imagined judgement.

Do the thing. Not because it will be remembered forever, but because you will remember it now.

You have to back yourself first. Always.

One of the hardest truths I’ve learned on this journey is that real support often comes after success.
Not before.
Not when you’re doubting yourself, second-guessing everything, or wondering if it’s even going to work.

The support shows up when things look shiny
When you’ve already survived the hard bit
When people can point to something and say, “I always knew you would”

But that part in the middle
The part where you need encouragement the most
That’s where it gets quiet
And that’s where you have to become the one who shows up for you

I’ve decided that no one gets to believe in me more than I do
Not anymore

Here’s what’s helping me right now:

▪ Focus on progress, not proof
▪ Create before you feel ready
▪ Stop explaining. Start building
▪ Protect your energy. Not everyone will get it, and that’s fine

🌪 Why Most People Quit — And How You Can Rise Instead 🚀

In your darkest moments, it’s easy to believe “this is how it will always be.”
That lie, the idea that it won’t get better, is what causes most people to quit.
Not the hardship itself.
But the belief that the future holds no light.

🧠 Psychology calls this “cognitive distortion”—specifically, catastrophising, where we assume the worst outcome is inevitable (Beck, 1976; APA, 2023).
It’s not your fault. Your brain evolved to predict danger, not believe in your success.

But here's the truth 👉 Pain distorts perspective, not potential.

🔁 Rewire Your Thinking – Action Steps:

1. Name the thought. Say: “This is a fear, not a fact.”

2. Zoom out. Ask: “How will I feel about this in 6 months?” (Temporal distancing — Kross & Ayduk, 2011)

3. Borrow belief. Recall a time things did get better after struggle.

4. Take the tiniest step. Action quiets anxiety. Don’t aim to leap,just lean forward.
