On August 12th, my life was turned upside down when I suffered a stroke. I went from working, caring for my family, and handling everyday life to suddenly struggling with the effects of a life-altering medical event that has left me unable to work.
And while I’m trying to recover, my husband is fighting his own battle.
He is currently undergoing dialysis and living with heart failure, and because of his health, he is also unable to work and bring in the income we depend on.
We are now facing something neither of us ever expected: two people who have always worked hard and taken care of themselves are suddenly unable to earn a living at the same time.
Our home in Florida has always been our safe place—a place where we could breathe, regroup, and feel secure. But right now, we’re scared of losing that security. Rent, utilities, groceries, transportation, medical expenses, and everyday necessities don’t stop just because you’re sick.
We aren’t asking for help because we want anything extra. We’re asking for help because we need a bridge to get through this.
Our goal is to raise enough to help keep a roof over our heads, keep the lights on, put food on the table, cover transportation and other essential expenses, and give us the time we need to focus on getting healthy enough to work again.
If you can donate, no amount is too small. $5, $10, or $20 may not seem like much, but when many people come together, those small acts of kindness can make an enormous difference.
And if you’re unable to donate, please don’t think that means you can’t help. Sharing our fundraiser with your family, friends, coworkers, or social media could put it in front of someone who can.
Right now, we’re simply trying to hold on, heal, and make it through a season of life we never saw coming.
