Is your inner critic/bully progressively LOUD, LOUDER and LOUDER!!?...
Maybe the inner critic is trying to protect us from a known or perceived threat
When this happens, this may be a sign to step back. If you can, become aware, focus closely enough, you may hear a whispering voice telling you to find a quiet space in a park, more ME time, travelling to the beach or a day out at the local coffee shop. Journaling, talking with someone you trust or a counsellor can help you to make sense of what may be internal and/or external stressors, e.g. changes in your life; moving to university, losing a job, a friend or internal turmoil that doesnโt make sense.
This is not easy to do as the critic is so LOUDDD โ In flight/fight mode, which makes you want to ACT OUT whether it's spending money, binge/restricting food, or smoking to cope. It is understandable to need to do these responses. It's HARD to look after yourself because you want to ESCAPE this crap. It is understandable. It is difficult to end torments such as these. It isnโt your fault. #dontselfisolate and deprive yourself nuture and sooth inner child ๐ฅน
If you keep being frustrated or even angry at mundanes of life, e.g. making a mistake, being late to appointments, traffic, the line is long in Tesco's, and someone accidentally bumps into you. This is a sign to GIVE YOURSELF A BREAK, you are GOING THROUGH IT, you are HUMAN. You are doing the best you CAN with what you know. This is a natural response to stress if it becomes too much.
Things take weeks, months or years to figure out; life is demanding.
What can you do right now?? BREATHE, build consistency in life, such as waking up on time, finding fun sports, eating well, investing in a spontaneous new Hobby, or making new friends, travelling, nature, and the most important is PLAY โค #Build a supportive network with friends, family, anyone you TRUST if things get rough.
