The prophecy has been fufilled! Retroid is relasing their 2 screen doodad, the Retroid Pocket Duo and Pocket Duo Lite. They go up for pre-order TONIGHT at 9:30 PM EST!
The Pocket Duo Lite starts at $149, or $135 with code DUOLITE. It has dual IPS screens and enough power for DS, PSP, Dreamcast, and some lighter 3DS emulation.
The fancier Pocket Duo is $269, or $249 with code DUO. That one has dual 120Hz AMOLED screens, analog triggers, and considerably more horsepower for tougher 3DS games and beyond.
Both have Hall sticks, active cooling, a 6000mAh battery, and, most importantly, two screens. Twice as many as those single-screen loser handhelds for jerks.
These are pre-order prices, and shipping is extra. The Duo Lite begins shipping September 17, while the regular Duo is expected to begin shipping in mid-October.
If you’re considering grabbing one, I’d be SUPER GRATEFUL if you’d use my affiliate link. Your support helps me make more videos without stuffing them full of sponsored segments. Just pure, uninterrupted dweebyness... as nature intended.
If you haven't seen my review, the TL;DR is these are both an excellent value considering the quality and specs.
The Air Y which can handle lower end stuff (all the N64 and Dreamcast and PSP and a bit beyond) is $89.
And the Air Y PRO, with the same chip as the Retroid Pocket 5, can handle most Gamecube and PS2 and even some Switch and PC emulation. That starts at $145.
These are the early-bird prices, and you will have to pay shipping on top, but even still it's a great value.
If you're considering picking one of these up, I'd be SUPER GRATEFUL if you'd use my link. Affiliate links help me keep the lights on and the root beer flowin'. You get a great doodad, and I get to make videos without stuffing them with sponsored segments! Win-win!
I have decision fatigue! I’ve got a bunch of fun tech to cover - help me pick what video I should make next. I’ll get to all of them, just can't decide what to do first :S
The Retroid Pocket Nova is up for PRE-ORDER TOMORROW (6/26). Doors open at 6pm PST / 9pm EST
I think this is gonna be a BANGER, but as always, we'll have to wait and see how it feels and if there are any issues. I also think, considering the custom screen, the powerful chip, and the um... price of... everything... these days, it's a really solid value. I'm planning on getting the '16 bit' SNES style version (and probably doing a button-paint to make it DMG flavored as always!)
Anyways, if you're thinking aboot picking one up, I'd be SUPER GRATEFUL if you'd use my link. It costs you nothing and helps me keep the root beer flowin'. So thanks for that, if you do!
