India has traditionally been a place where several religious sects could coexist peacefully. Across the subcontinent, such traditions of assistance exist in various forms. Over the millennia, India's rich culture of information sharing and inter-religious community building activities has emerged and penetrated the tiniest of communities.
We went to one during Ramadan. We saw the strength and generosity of Islam in action as a whole community of Muslim artists fasted, observed Ramadan rituals, and painted tales from Hindu mythology and scriptures in Patachitra style to help the Hindu people in maintaining their culture. We saw today in essence and experience that a person of great faith and integrity would always encourage another in better living their religion, even if it is a different tradition.
As Hindu men, we were moved by the community's reverence for our heritage and the knowledge they held to preserve it. So much for the potential of art to bring people together in mutual respect and admiration. Appropriately, Contact us for further information.
