One photo today before things go even more sideways. This week I was rushed to hospital with a diagnosis of oesophageal cancer. I don’t know what stage yet, but at any stage, it’s a bit of a prick to deal with.

I won’t go out without a fight, I’ve got way too much to fight for. I just thought I’d let you know, as life is now on pause. I need to step back from work, from astronomy, from YouTube, socials, radio, side quests etc and put all my energy and attention where it matters.

I’ll probably still post here and there.

I don’t need anything, I just wanted to let you know.

And remember,

Everything is meaningless and we’re all going to die.

You need to watch â€Ș@AstroBackyard‬ ‘s latest video about his trip to Australia! We had the most amazing weekend and he got to experience our most important things - Vegemite and Tim Tams. https://youtu.be/xQSDTr263KY

Truly saddened to learn of Alyn Wallace’s passing tonight. He was an amazing astrophotographer and an equally incredible YouTuber. I enjoyed his videos a lot and it’s weird and unnerving to hear about one of your peers dying unexpectedly. Thanks for everything Alyn, you will be missed. savanaoptics.com/2024/03/29/alyn-wallace-death-pon

Thanks to the 7k+ viewers who've watched this video, the global number of Jupiter/Saturn impact observers has already gone up 10% and climbing I'm told!

This is one of the easiest and tangible citizen astronomy projects for anyone with a camera and telescope. Thank you everyone! And thanks to lead astronomer â€Ș@marc.delcroix‬ !

Good morning AMERICA! I uploaded a really cool video while you were asleep and now the YT algorithm thinks I'm a loser because you weren't there to watch it, and the brits aren't really helping. Don't get me started on the bloody Australians. Do me a solid and watch it in the car on the way to work, but try not to kill anyone. Thanks.

Hey space squad.. You're probably wondering where I've been and why I paused the Patreon. My son (You might remember him as Dr Zen) has been in hospital a lot recently for serious reasons and his recovery will take a long time. He's ok for now so thanks everyone for your thoughts and well wishes. I hope to return at some point when things settle down.. but in the meantime shoutout to â€Ș@frasercain‬ for having me as a guest on his 200th Space Q&A episode with many smarter people than me including â€Ș@scottmanley‬ , â€Ș@MarcusHouse‬ , â€Ș@joescott‬ , â€Ș@JohnMichaelGodier‬ and others! My stupid face is even in the thumbnail! What an honour. Well done Fraser.. cool episode! Enjoy the Universe... today.

Did you catch my recent video about taking an entry level solar scope to the NEXT LEVEL? I posted it while you were asleep so you probably missed it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xU7SB... Also .. I made this small animation using the data I took that day I'm pretty proud of! Space is amazing eh?

1 year ago I used my astrophotography to make a 5m music video for Rick Schneider from metal band POLARIS. The song he wrote for it is fucking EPIC and the imagery tells a story of decline. Somewhat presciently, I included footage of Russian soldiers training for war.
