As a part of my ongoing experiment to optimize my thumbnails (and grow my channel) I am reverting back to my old style (Pre-2026) style of thumbnails. These consist of a real photo in the upper left corner, my logo in the bottom left corner and stock art photos (or screen shots) with a text overlay covering the majority of the thumbnail.

As promised, after receiving some negative comments on recent thumbnails and community posts in which I used AI to create illustrations, I ran a test on the video I uploaded today. I made two versions of the thumbnail for my interview with Constantine, one using AI and the other simply using a still image from our interview with the same text on the thumbnail. After nearly 13,000 views, 50.2% of my watch hours came from the AI thumbnail and 49.8% (a tie for all practical purposes) came from the non-AI version.
