So who is the Schipperke???
The Schipperke is a small, smart, and clever black dog in the body of a truly active shepherd! Don’t judge her by her size — she’s a real shepherd!
These little black doggies are very cunning and curious, usually wary of strangers, and can protect their owners with loud barks.
They were originally bred to hunt rodents and helped boatmen catch rats and mice — they did it even better than cats!
It’s believed that the name comes from “little boatman/captain” or “little shepherd.” Yes, they were also used as herding and guard dogs.
By the way, this breed originated in Belgium, and their ancestors were the Leuvenaars.
Later, other coat colors appeared, such as beige, chocolate, white, red, and others, but they are not recognized by the official breed standard — only pure black is allowed in shows.
These tireless companions are also very active with other dogs, but very gentle with small children.
Sometimes they can be a bit stubborn during training — that’s why it’s important to take them to a dog trainer from puppyhood. You shouldn’t just play fetch with them — it’s better to combine different games with training.
And most importantly, despite their size, they are serious dogs.

Итак, кто же такие Шипперке???
Шипперке - маленькая умная черная собачка в теле по-настоящему активной овчарки! Не судите о ней по её размерам, она настоящая овчарка! Эти маленькие черные собачки очень хитры и любопытны, обычно настороженно относятся к незнакомцам и могут защитить своих хозяев громким лаем.
Их разводили для охоты на грызунов, они помогали лодочникам ловить крыс и мышей, и у них это получалось лучше, чем у кошек. Считается, что название происходит от
"маленький лодочник/капитан" или
"маленькая овчарка/пастушок". Да, их также использовали в качестве пастушьих и сторожевых собак.
