I'm curious to know if you ever did work experience at a video production company before getting into the industry. In the last year of my film degree I interned at a video production company for a few weeks. I had a good experience, but looking back on it now I should have been more clear with what I wanted to get out of the internship as I feel that I could have gotten a lot more out of it. I'm keen to hear your experiences below.
Had probably one of the toughest shoots that I've had in a while. Water, dust, mud and high winds that wanted to take the camera away. This job definitely had me rethinking my wet weather gear for my camera.
I found out that I might have to fly a drone for an upcoming production, despite having little to no actual flight experience. In my latest vlog, I get my very drone flight in and try to stay on the right side of aviation regulations.
@mattsmolen4 recently released the case study for a parody film we created for Specsavers. In my latest video, I break down the exact 3-light setup we used to light the studio interviews without getting any reflections in our glasses.
It was a big week of production contrasts. One day I’m shooting solo with just a backpack and a tripod... the next, I’m on a 5 crew, 3 camera, 7-interview TVC shoot.
I loved the running a lean camera package for the jobs I had city, but the big day of filming interviews was a lot of fun, working with friends and providing some creative challenges that we had to solve.
If you're more interested in more behind the scenes of the Wizard of Oz parody that I featured in episode 4 of my vlog, @mattsmolen4 just released an in-depth break down video of how we made the video which you can watch here: https://youtu.be/vn0gg9EwsaQ?si=x-ZlH...
I haven't been the biggest fan of gimbals, I've found them a bit cumbersome and slow to get the shots that I'm after, so I'm not the most proficient when it comes to gimbal operation. I typically opt for handheld, but I've got a job coming up which requires some gimbal work so I'm looking to brush up on my gimbal skills and increase the stamina.
I'm curious to hear how the increase in fuel prices have effected other video creatives, especially when it comes to travelling to regional areas. Are you currently absorbing the costs or have you started passing the costs onto your clients?

Had a big week planning for an upcoming livestream and played around with some new camera rigging ideas for some shots for an upcoming video.
