When it comes to scripture writing, or really anything for that matter, we can sometimes think that it is a magic bullet. Because we have hope for change, we can think THIS IS IT. If only I scripture write for 10 minutes a day, or 30 days or YOU NAME IT..... Our minds are fashioned for novelty...we love new and unknown things. That's why we often fall off the wagon when it comes to some things after the newness has wore off.
There is no power in the writing itself..it is not itself a commandment. IT IS THE LIVING BREATHING WORD OF GOD THAT BRINGS ABOUT CHANGE..and to be honest, it isn't flashy all the time. Change, or anything that convicts us, is often hard truth...but despite it, it has the power through God to change our hearts.

In my video that went live today I talk about that very thing. Scripture writing isn't a magic bullet that will give us the relationship with God that we want, or the positive change that can come with a disciplined life. It is in Christ alone, the work He did on the cross, and letting His word change on. Change and growth takes time though!!

It is BEYOND AMAZING to see how God steps into our humanity and comes along science and the brain to rewire us. I love to say that He has HARDWIRED US TO REWIRE ❤️ I don't know where you are today, what you are going through, the trauma and hurt, maybe brokenness that you've weathered, but God can restore the years the locusts have taken.

Happy Thursday, My Sweet Friends ❤️

I'm spending my day today outside doing yard work. But I'm taking a pause from mowing 😎 to let you all know about my latest YouTube video that just went live. I've never spoken publicly about nearly losing my mom almost 2 summers ago UNTIL NOW. It is an amazing, miraculous story of God's goodness and my laying down my will to pick up God's.

I didn't know what would happen to my mom's life as she lay in a coma on a ventilator, after being dead for 5 minutes. She had just retired, and then landed in the hospital, her life slipping away in front of my very eyes. She is my best friend and it ruined me!!!

There is no formula to access healing. God is sovereign and most holy and does as he pleases...he doesn't always answer our prayers and yet, we know that he is still good! AND YET—I prayed an ancient prayer..one that didn't necessarily ask God for healing.

I stared at the directions on my phone and was excited as I announced to my husband, "All I need to do is dump vinegar on the stain, let it sit for a few hours, then sprinkle baking soda on top." I smiled and was thrilled beyond words that I was FINALLY going to get the 2-year old urine smell out of the boys closet.

I continued, "The baking soda will mop up the moisture and then I can vacuum it. WHY DIDN'T I KNOW ABOUT THIS SOONER?" I was nearly jumping from my chair in the living room, my heart already ten steps ahead buried in the closet in the basement, finally relieved that I was a good homemaker.

The short of it....IT DID NOT WORK! My steps above made a paste that would not dry in 90% humidity. I DESTROYED our vacuum, this was like the 4th one that's gotten ruined in our house in the last 5 years!

This mama and homemaker was not a happy camper. I ran my mouth, needed to repent in my heart and to my husband. I felt like, in addition to the pasty closet in
90% humidity, I had blown it!


Do you ever have those days when you just bomb at being a Christian? Yes, you're still saved, but you are very aware that you have made so many mistakes? I want to speak truth into your heart...all it takes to get back on track is God's way. Do we ignore our behavior? Nope. We repent for it, and except God's free grace. We do business with God and those we've hurt, we forgive ourselves, and we carry on to fight another day.

I don't know who needs to hear this today, but you have not blown it. You are not lost, you are not a disappointment. Maybe you have a pasty closet as we speak, dirty laundry coming out of your ears, children running amuck, and commitments that cannot wait. Take a breath, accept God's grace, extend it to yourself, and learn pursue God's way.

It is the one thing in my life that has never disappointed. I had made so many mistakes..and yet, I look at my life and have countless blessings to show for it. Hebrews 11:6 says that God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. It doesn''t say, "those who do it perfectly, never fall apart because of those pasty closets and rooms that are all but falling apart."

He rewards those who seek him. That means we can seek him imperfectly. Beloved reading these words now, his word says that he doesn't give as the world gives!

Come as you are, broken and with your pasty closet and your broken heart.
