Social scientist + lived experience advocate 💬

Welcome to In Chrysalis! I'm Dr. Becky Roberts. I'm a professor of Communication and my doctorate is in Education.

I’m a Gen X farm girl turned social scientist, and world traveler sharing what meaningful living looks like in middle age while navigating type 2 diabetes, obesity, menopause, and metabolic health.

After gastric bypass surgery and with the help of Mounjaro, I’ve maintained a 125-pound weight loss while building a healthier, more balanced life. On this channel, I talk honestly about metabolic disease, healthy habits, weight maintenance, menopause, HRT, mindset, and aging well.

I’m also a wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and pet mom who believes health is about more than the number on a scale. If you’re looking for evidence-based conversations, real-life experiences, and encouragement, you’re in the right place.

Subscribe for practical insights, honest discussions, and inspiration for living well in midlife.

I've had a busy couple of weeks! My dad entered into hospice care, and my niece had a major medical event. Both situations are well managed now, and I'll be posting new videos starting this weekend. I hope all of you are well! 🩷 ~Becky

I recently recorded an interview the Christopher and Loraine from The Downsized. It was a great experience! They focus on GLP1 medications and the fight against obesity. If those are of interest to you, I encourage you to subscribe to their channel.
