🎓After Graduation… What Next?
We've done it! We’ve completed our Bsc Information Technology, Ghana CommunicationTechnology University, Accra and are now waiting for the big day. Many of us are excited about wearing that gown, smiling for the cameras and celebrating with others is exciting.
But even as we celebrate this milestone, the real question remains: What truly comes after?
The next step for all of us is clear — National Service (NSS). But beyond those 12 months, the path becomes less defined. That’s where intentional choices matter.
Do we pursue further studies? Apply for jobs? Start a business? Or balance multiple dreams at once? One thing is certain, waiting until after NSS to plan is too late.
Here are a few reflections I’ve been having, which might help my fellow graduates think carefully about their next step:
🎯 Clarity – Define your career direction now. Do you see yourself in academia, industry, or entrepreneurship?
📚 Preparation – While in NSS, apply for scholarships, build skills and network. The year will pass quickly.
💼 Experience – Treat your service as more than a requirement. It’s a chance to gain exposure, mentors and references.
💡 Side Hustles and Passions – Don’t abandon personal projects. The small idea you nurture now might become the big opportunity later.
🌍 Long-term Vision – Think 5 years ahead. Where do you want to be, and what steps today can lead you there?
Graduation isn’t the finish line. It’s the beginning of a bigger journey. 🚀
So to my fellow graduates, as we celebrate this milestone, let’s also think deeply about the next chapter. The choices we make now will shape who we become in the next decade.
