Computer graphics technology discussion. Featured on Tom's Hardware. I will help you keep your graphics card!!! Lots of videos about software ray tracing (non-RTX/non-hardware accelerated) because I only have a GTX 1080 Ti. Ai upscaling and other Ai deepfake stuff so yeah. Anger is a gift

I'm working on a "How Does Intel Do Hardware Accelerated Ray Tracing?" video as a followup to my video covering AMD's RDNA 2 RT implementation from a few months ago. I'm also interested in covering how RDNA4's implementation compares to RDNA2 and RDNA3's. Are there any specific questions you'd like addressed in the video?

Working on a video comparing Lossless Scaling Frame Gen vs XeSS Frame Gen vs Optiscaler FSR 3.1 Frame Generation. It's pretty great to have three different good options for frame generation supported on nearly all GPUs going back to 2016!

Holy crap I've been trying to find a fix for Optiscaler in Jedi Survivor all day and I finally just got it to work! They switched from Denuvo to EasyAntiCheat and it broke the previous way XeSS/frame gen were injected into the game. Instead of renaming optiscaler.dll to dxgi.dll like before, you need to rename it to "d3d12.dll" in order to prevent the game from crashing on launch with an error.

Thought this chart from @chipsandcheesecc 's article on RDNA 4's ray tracing implementation was really interesting. Does the PS5 actually have an older version of hardware RT than RDNA 2?? And the PS5 Pro could be the same but for RDNA 4 it seems. The full article goes in depth on RDNA 4's improvements compared to previous generations. chipsandcheese.com/p/rdna-4s-raytracing-improvemen…

Linux users running RDNA 3 GPUs are now able to run FSR 4 on their games thanks to new Mesa patches as well as new versions of Proton. I don't think there's any support for RDNA 2... yet... Seems very straightforward to enable, similar to RDNA 4 GPUs on Windows, it injects FSR 4 into FSR 3.1 games. The performance cost is worse than FSR 3.1 but still improves FPS significantly over native resolution, even on RDNA 3. Games tested in this Reddit thread include Cyberpunk, Oblivion Remastered, and Marvel Rivals.

Anyone playing Oblivion Remastered, this mod really improves the look of trees/ambient occlusion in the open world due to changing from SSAO to Lumen AO. www.nexusmods.com/oblivionremastered/mods/27?tab=d… It also claims performance improvements, which may be true but I haven't compared accurately. It's similar or better though. This change makes an especially large difference if you are running without hardware Lumen, like on GPUs that don't support RT.
Overall seems like a must have mod imo
