The Philippines on Thursday said it would block Elon Musk's Grok AI chatbot "by tonight," becoming the third Southeast Asian nation in less than a week to restrict the platform amid a global backlash over its use to generate sexualized deepfakes of women and children. The announcement came hours after X, the social media platform that hosts Grok, said it was implementing new restrictions to prevent the chatbot from undressing images of real people. However, Philippine officials said X's pledges would not deter their plans.

Beijing-based startup Noetix Robotics announced Tuesday the pre-sale of its Bumi humanoid robot for ¥9,998 ($1,400), becoming the first high-performance humanoid robot in China to break below the ¥10,000 threshold. The launch marks a pivotal moment in China's aggressive push to bring humanoid robots from research laboratories into consumer homes, with the 94-centimeter tall robot specifically designed for educational and family use.
The timing of Bumi's announcement coincides with China's broader strategy to dominate global humanoid robotics production, as the country races to manufacture over 10,000 humanoid robots by the end of 2025. Pre-orders for the lightweight robot, weighing just 12 kilograms, are scheduled to commence during China's Double 11 shopping festival period, representing Noetix's transition from business-to-business sales to direct consumer markets.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk revealed his true motivation for seeking an unprecedented $1 trillion compensation package during the company's third-quarter earnings call Wednesday, stating he needs control over what he described as Tesla's "robot army" of Optimus humanoid robots.
"My fundamental concern with regard to how much money and control I have at Tesla is if I go ahead and build this enormous robot army, can I just be ousted at some point in the future?" Musk said on the earnings call. "That's my biggest concern, that is really the only thing I'm trying to address with this… what's called compensation."
Musk initially used the word "control" before quickly correcting himself to "strong influence" over the robotic workforce, which he envisions numbering in the billions. The comments marked a significant departure from his previous public statements about wanting increased voting power to ensure AI safety.

Microsoft will roll out a controversial new feature in December 2025 that automatically detects and updates employees' work locations when they connect to their organization's Wi-Fi networks, potentially giving employers unprecedented insight into whether workers are actually in the office during return-to-work mandates.
The feature, associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 488800, has been delayed multiple times from its original September 2025 target date and will now begin rolling out in early December 2025, completing by mid-December. The timing coincides with a broader corporate push for return-to-office policies and growing concerns about employee surveillance in the workplace.
