Japan has officially recorded 107,677 centenarians, marking the first time the number has passed 100,000! Around 88% are women, with the country’s oldest woman aged 114 and oldest man aged 112.
Experts point to factors including Japan’s traditional diet, active lifestyles and advances in healthcare as some reasons behind the country’s remarkable longevity. But Japan’s rapidly aging population is also creating major challenges for its healthcare and social security systems.
HBO CEO Casey Bloys says he “thinks” Craig Mazin has planned Season 3 as the final season of The Last of Us, with the next chapter expected to arrive in 2027. That’s a change from Mazin’s comments in 2025, when he said there was “no way” to finish the story in Season 3 and suggested a fourth season could be needed.
For now, HBO hasn’t officially confirmed Season 3 as the finale but it’s looking increasingly possible. And even if the HBO adaptation ends, Naughty Dog says it isn’t done with The Last of Us, with other projects reportedly in the works.
