Chennai–New Jalpaiguri Superfast Express Derails Near Jakhapura; No Injuries Reported

A minor derailment involving the Chennai Central–New Jalpaiguri Superfast Express (Train No. 22611) was reported today, near Jakhapura railway station in Jajpur district.

@EastCoastRail CPRO Deepak Rout has confirmed no injuries or casualties.

Location: Jakhapura yard (within station limits)
Time: Around 8:51 AM IST

Three coaches (one AC, two general) left the tracks while moving at very low speed inside the yard

Status of passengers: Safe; brief panic reported, arrangements made for onward travel

Route at the time: Heading toward Howrah / Kolkata

Rescue teams were rushed from Bhadrak.
Restoration work is underway under East Coast Railway.

The cause is being investigated. Some temporary service disruptions may occur locally; no major line blockage has been announced. #Odisha
