Hi, friends. Its been a while but I've been busy, I promise. I started a Substack! If you're on that platform, consider subscribing. I got one subscriber so far and cried tears of joy. If you're lucky #2 I'll give a little booty shake.
2024 was a bit of a reading slump for me, but 2025 is coming in hot! 🔥 My latest video breaks it all down. Working on filming my next video, hope to have it up Sunday, but we'll see.
Sorry for the delay and the lack of a weekly video. The kids got me, and I caught a gnarly cold. Plus, it’s been -6 degrees here, so I’ve been a full-on gremlin, hibernating in my hobbit hole, surviving purely on audiobooks and buttery bread.
But I’m feeling slightly better now and ready to edit this video. And surprise! You’re getting two videos from me this week so we can get back on track.
Anyways, here’s what I’ve been reading lately...
1. I finished The Teller of Small Fortunes, 4.5 ⭐️
2. I'm almost done with Jade City and OMG what took me so long!? I can tell you right now, it's going to be 5⭐️
3. I'm halfway through III Got Abducted by Aliens and Now I'm Trapped in a Rom-Com. This is so chaotic, in the best way possible. I love that it gets into it by the end of chapter 1 and the audiobook narrator really embodies the character.
4. I'm doing a group buddy read of Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell. I'm only on chapter 6 so I'm trying to get through the set-up. Everyone else seems to be around Ch. 7/8 where they say the pace really picks up. I hope to get there. soon. It's definitely going to take me a month to get through, so hope to finish that by the end of February.
How was your January reading month? Hopefully the world slowly crumbling apart doesn't put you in too big of a slump.
Sad Girl Rant Incoming...Processing the Neil Gaiman Allegations
This one hurts. Neil Gaiman’s work shaped so much of my love for the fantasy genre and my desire to write. Stardust, Coraline, Neverwhere—these stories aren’t just books to me; they’re pieces of my soul. To say I’m devastated is an understatement. This is the second time I've had to mourn the loss of an author I admired (the first being she who shall not be named). And now to find out that someone who inspired so many of us has allegedly been a secret monster this entire time? It’s heartbreaking and infuriating. Can we please, for the love of all things holy, have at least one month where an author is not behaving badly? PLEASE. I beg.
So let's talk about it. Not just for what this means for his legacy, but because his victims deserve to have their voices heard. I’m still processing a lot as a fan and as someone who genuinely believed in the magic of his work.
This is more of a sad girl rant as I try to make sense of all this. Let me know your thoughts. I’d love to hear how you’re processing this, too. 💔
I’m so excited to share my book recommendations with you all! In this video, I’m diving into cozy fantasy reads with that Studio Ghibli magic. If you love enchanting stories, magical worlds, and heartfelt adventures, this one's for you! 🌙✨
Check out the video, and let me know what you think! I’d love to hear your thoughts and any book recommendations you think I should add to my list. Don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more cozy, magical book content.📚💖
