There’s a girl in my G4 class who has the most perfect handwriting. It looks just like a computer font. Seriously. And she writes crazy fast!

I’d pay actual money to read a whole book in that font. Lol. She should become a designer. I hope one day she will, or whatever she'll choose to become, because, in my eyes, she's already a star.

Also, she marks word stresses with little red triangles. So sweet and cool... I’m seriously impressed!

Hey everyone!

I have an idea. New Year is coming, and this time of year always feels a bit magical - full of hope, change, and the wish that the next year will be better than the last (at least, that's how it feels for me). I thought it might be nice to make a video with us, teachers, sharing short messages for each other. Something warm, something that brings a smile, and something we can look back on later.

If you’d like to take part, please send me a link to your video at valerijusc@hotmail.com

Here’s how:

1) Record a video (up to 1 min) on your phone (HD if you can). Introduce yourself: your name, where you’re from, and what you teach. Then share a message you want other teachers to hear before the New Year.

2) Move the file to your computer. Go to wetransfer.com/, a free service for sending large files (up to 2GB). Click the three dots and choose “Create link.” Then select “Add file,” and continue. When the upload finishes, copy the link and email it to me.

It’s completely optional, of course, I just feel like it could be something really nice.

Last week, I ran a monthly PD mini workshop at my school on fresh ways to model a new task or topic in the ESL classroom. It made me think this could be a great idea for the next video, no?

Modeling means showing students what to do before asking them to do it. Many teachers only tell students what to do, but telling is not modeling. When we demonstrate the task, language, or behavior, students get a clear example they can follow.

Life Update:
Hey everyone! It’s been a couple of weeks since my last upload, so I wanted to give you a quick update. The weather in Nanjing suddenly dropped by almost 20 degrees, and a lot of students and teachers came down with a cold, including me. No fever, just a runny nose and a very rough cough. That’s what happens when you get too many hugs from kids, I guess! :))

Right now I can’t record because I sound awful, and the videos would probably do more harm than good. I’ll be back as soon as my voice recovers. Thanks for your patience and support! Stay healthy! ❤️❤️❤️
