Yesterday, I strained my back and was in a bit of pain. When I walked into class, one of the girls noticed and asked what was wrong

“My back hurts a little,” I said.
“Let me show you two exercises. Do them when it starts hurting, and the pain will go away,” she replied.

Then she demonstrated (see photos). 😮😮😮

“The first one is best for your back, but if it’s too hard, try the second one. It's also good,” she explained.

I was speechless - but of course, I said thank you. :))

Two days ago, I released a new video: Sheltered Instruction: Step-by-Step Guide. 😎

In this video, I explain what sheltered instruction is and how to use the SIOP model to teach ESL students both CONTENT and LANGUAGE at the same time (with lots of practical examples!).

🔹 In ESL or task-based lessons, we focus mainly on language learning and communication practice.
🔹 In sheltered instruction lessons, we’re teaching content classes (like science, history, or math) in English—but in a way that makes the subject easier to understand for English learners. The goal is to build content knowledge + language skills together.

New video coming tomorrow (I hope)! I’ve been working on it for about 2-3 weeks. 😂😂😂

Thanks for your patience - it’s been a bit slow because I’ve been busy with new teacher orientation at school. On top of that, we had to move office (actually, two of them) on very short notice. To give you an idea, we have 17 teachers on our campus and tons of supplies to shift around. Since I was tied up with orientation, I got tremendous help from other teachers with moving my things, but I still felt bad that I couldn’t be more helpful. 🥲😢

Lots going on, but I can’t wait to share the next video with you all! ❤️
