Sulam Ya'aqov is a Jewish organization that is non-denominational and is not affiliated with any particular Jewish group or sect. With no affiliation to any religious sect or group, we are free to teach Torah without barriers or mental walls that many in these sects place burdens on people when studying. For this very reason, we help those online who are wanderlusting or have no spiritual place to call home. Traditional Judaism should be experienced and taught to anyone who wants to learn and we welcome all, regardless of where you have come from, your faith background, or your current placement in this world of religion.

עוֹד דַּע סוֹד אַחֵר בְּעִנְיַן הַתְּקִיעוֹת, כִּי הַשּׁוֹפָר מוֹרֶה מִלְחָמָה וּמוֹרֶה חֵרוּת גַּם כֵּן כַּיָּדוּעַ, וְאֵין חֵרוּת אֶלָּא עַל־יְדֵי הַתּוֹרָה, וְאֵין תּוֹרָה אֶלָּא עַל־יְדֵי כְּנִיסַת הַמּוֹחִין. הֲרֵי שֶׁבִּתְקִיעַת הַשּׁוֹפָר נִכְנָסִים הַמּוֹחִין וְקוֹרְאִים דְּרוֹר מִכָּל צָרָה וְיָגוֹן, בִּזְכוּת הַתּוֹרָה שֶׁלוֹמְדִים, עַל־יְדֵי כְּנִיסַת הַמּוֹחִין. הֲרֵי שֶׁתְּקִיעַת שׁוֹפָר מוֹרֶה מִלְחָמָה עִם הָאוֹיְבִים, וּמוֹרֶה גַּם כֵּן חֵרוּת מֵהֶם, "וַה' נָתַן קוֹלוֹ לִפְנֵי חֵילוֹ, כִּי רַב מְאֹד מַחֲנֵהוּ, כִּי עָצוּם עֹשֵׂה דְבָרוֹ".

"For the shofar indicates war, and it also indicates freedom, as is known. And there is no freedom except through the Torah, and there is no Torah except through the entry of the mochin (supernal intellects). Thus, at the sounding of the shofar the mochin enter, and they proclaim liberty (deror) from every trouble and sorrow, by the merit of the Torah that is studied, through the entry of the mochin. Therefore, the blowing of the shofar signifies both war with the enemies and also freedom from them — as it is written: “And HaShem gave His voice before His army, for His camp is very great, for mighty is he who executes His word.” (Yo’el 2:11)."

The shofar has always been a battle-call. Mystically, when the shofar is blown, holiness “declares war” against the chitzonim (external forces/qelipot). This war is cosmic, not earthly: it is the confrontation between the side of holiness (qedushah) and the side of impurity (tumah). Alongside war, the shofar also signifies freedom (cherut). Scripturally, the Jubilee (Yovel) year is proclaimed by the shofar: “And you shall proclaim liberty (deror) throughout the land” (Vayiqra 25:10). Mystically, this liberty is not just social or political. It is liberation of the Shekhinah from the grip of the external forces, and liberation of the souls of Yisrael from exile and judgment. The Ramdu said: “There is no freedom except through Torah.” The Torah is the inner law of divine order. When the mochin (Divine Consciousness of G-d from the energy of Chokhmah, Binah, Da’at) enters a person they actualize Torah as the structure of freedom.

Freedom is not passive; it is won through war. War is not destructive; it is the act of birur (separating holiness from impurity). The shofar is therefore the pivot point: Its sound awakens judgment (din) to battle. Its sound also awakens mercy (rachamim) to liberate.

In relation to our recent classes on a historical look at the Gospels we have noticed some people would prefer to ignore Jewish law and Jewish history to continue believing in a fabricated theology. While the Creator has given us free will that does not mean we should choose to remain willfully ignorant to truth. The reason why it's difficult for people to accept a certain truth when it challenges their belief is due to cognitive dissonance.

One of our mandates at Sulam Ya'aqov is Ahavat HaGer (Love of the Ger). As part of our mandate we have developed special classes designed to help individuals who seeking to fully join the Jewish people.

One of the major areas we focus on is teaching the historical background of the NT and Y'shu HaNotsri not the theological Y'shu of Messianic Judaism / Christianity.

Starting Sunday @ 10:00am EST we will be hosting a lite version of my in-depth commentary on the Gospel of Matthew. A lite version means the class does not come with PowerPoint/PDF docs nor does it cover the multi parts to each chapter. This class is an introduction to help introduce individuals from Messianic/Christian backgrounds to see the conflict of their theological belief of the NT compared to it's historical background.
