EoD - Eiran o Ddwywent

Hi there, I’m Eiran, a Welsh conlanger and worldbuilder with interests in all aspects of science and linguistics and writing! My videos are mostly about the languages and cultures and worlds I make

Credit and immense thanks to my friend Gieko for the profile picture (@gieko_ on discord and tumblr.com/iridium-lizard)

A small update to my last post, I have actually completed filming ahead of when I had anticipated! I ended up with more time on my hands today than expected and I am currently editing the video. Hopefully, I will be able to release it some time in the coming week.

Until then, a lil sneak peek!

Just wanted to apologise for not having done any content for the last two months. It’s been a bit of a hectic time in a way but the Eroan showcase video will be coming soon, I’ve made time in my plans to do the recording on the 23rd and will hopefully have it edited and released in the days after. See you all then!

Today’s Eroan Word of the Day is ‘aô’ [ˈa.oː] which means dog! Dogs are a vital part of Eroan society, helping to herd the animals their historically pastoral society was based around, namely sheep and cattle. However, in the last few hundred years as their civilisation has become increasingly more sedentary, dogs have started to take on new roles. Some are hunting dogs, while others are pets for the wealthy, though many are still herders.

Below are two photos of my own two dogs!

Today’s Eroan Word of the Day is ‘soans’ [sɞns] the name for silver birches and paper birches. The word means directly paper-maker as the bark of the trees used to be used to write upon.

Below is a drawing of a silver birch not far from my house with what I thought were cool-looking droopy branches

Work on the conlang showcase is moving slower than expected, but rather than completely starve you guys of content, I’m gonna start an Eroan Word of the Day series of posts.

Today’s word is ‘taallits’ [ˈta.aɬɬɘts] which means ‘conifer’. This name arose from an old word for girdle ‘toħal’ which through later analogy now means cloak.

The image is a large Douglas Fir (I think) near my house which is likely at least a couple of hundred years old!

So, yesterday I released my first video which was on the topic of The Horse Lords of Eroan. I now ask, what would you like to see next?
