Glucose Gone Wild

Hey, I’m Nia! A caregiver, creator, and glucose geek. 👋🏽🍪 I'm so glad you're here!

My dad has type 2 diabetes. I’m breaking the cycle of diabetes in my family and taking you along for the ride. Glucose Gone Wild is a space for people who have diabetes in their family or people facing pre-diabetes.

Expect a mix of food experiments, recipes, low impact workouts, personal stories, and a healthy dose of edutainment as I live life wearing a Continuous Glucose Monitor.

I am not a doctor, dietitian, nutritionist, or health coach. Nope, not even close. I’m just a person with a family history of diabetes, trying to break the cycle. That’s it. What works for me might not work for you. So, as you watch these videos, take what resonates, leave what doesn’t, and most importantly, listen to your body (and doctor).

Whether you’re here for the tips, the science, or just to feel less alone, this is your space.
Hit subscribe, and make living well wildly empowering. 💜

A THOUSAND of you. 🥹 Holy guacamole!

This started as me in my kitchen, testing blood sugar and talking to my camera—and now we’re out here building a whole movement to flip the script on diabetes… wild style!

Thank you for being part of it. We’re just getting started! 💜

My ‪@dexcomCGM‬ went rogue during the oatmeal experiment. My old school glucometer caught it slippin’. 😂

The new video is on hold — I’ve gotta get a replacement biosensor. Thanks for your patience everyone! 💜

Steel-cut vs. rolled oats: They look the same, but does your blood sugar agree? 👀

I put both to the test with my CGM—one surprised me. New video drops this week!

My blood sugar was 98% in range over the past two weeks! 🙌🏽

I’m not perfect (hi, I still eat snacks before bed sometimes), but I am committed. And this little CGM stat? It’s proof that the stuff I talk about isn’t just theory—it’s real life.

Small, consistent choices. Balanced meals. Fiber. Fat. Protein. Movement. Sleep. Grace. Repeat. 🔁✨

If your blood sugar has been riding the struggle bus lately, I see you—and I’m rooting for you. 💜 You don’t have to be perfect. You just have to keep going.

Breaking up with rice doesn’t have to be sad. ❤️‍🩹
Bulgur has entered the chat:

50g (1⁄4 cup) bulgur wheat
1 medium carrot, peeled into ribbons
150g (1 cup) cherry tomatoes, quartered
2 tablespoons capers + 2 tablespoons of brine
10g (1⁄4 cup) dill, finely chopped

Put the bulgur wheat into a small bowl and cover with 80mL (1⁄3 cup) boiling hot water. Cover and set aside for 20 minutes, until the wheat has puffed up and absorbed the water.

Mix the carrot, tomatoes, capers and their brine, and the dill, with the bulgur wheat and season with salt & pepper.

If you're one of the 500, thank you from the bottom of my pancreas. If you're not yet, come join us—we laugh, we learn, and we keep our glucose in check without losing our minds.

Next stop: 1,000. But for now, I'm just sitting in the gratitude. 💜
