Smashed up and broken ex climber and mountaineer, now freestyle FPV pilot.
FPV flight video is shot using a fleet of custom built quad-copters. I like to fly squashed X geometry, stiff frames, that are able to take some abuse in the trees and mountains, and are able to withstand some high g acrobatics. Apart from the tiny ones, all my aircraft are custom built for the task. With DJI O4 Pro or Osmo Nano 4K cameras to showcase the flight.

These guys have a similar spect to my other DIY P50b cell packs, so they should be really good ones 🙌

While they seem to be infuriating their UK customers with one hand, when it comes to their aftercare services, they really do try their very hardest!
I damaged my Osmo Nano in a crash exactly 1 week ago, now I have a shiny new camera ready for some long range expeditions again! I've been itching to try out these lightweight master airscrew x-series triblades on my analogue RAD Li-Ion build... but it's been waiting for it's 4K camera (and bonus model finder 😉).
On the other hand, I have an Air 3S, RC2 and 3 batteries for sale. Open to reasonable offers. I have no use for a drone that is nerfed to 120m, I do most of my flying in the mountains 🤷♂️

If you are like me and really like the boxer crush, but hate the design of the antenna, this internal antenna mod could be the answer you are waiting for!
It just getting in the way mostly for me, as I tend to use it with an external module.
The TPU part I used was too small to fit a dipole ELRS antenna, so I stuck it in with glue. Works just fine, and I didn't notice any extra RSSI issues flying the whoop around the house 💪

I've had a couple of comments recently asking what my PIDs, filters, and rates look like for my AOS 7 V5 8S build.
Here is a few screen grabs of how I like to be setup.
I use almost exactly the same rates for all my quads, the only thing I tune on that page is the throttle hover, mid and expo, depending on what quad it is. I like my general RF throw to be around 30-60%, so I tune it to have some more resolution in that region to match the throttle output. Keeping a consistent rate profile is essential if you like to fly fast, low and close to stuff IMO.
The PID loop and settings are setup for a rough AUW of 1.75kg, and I adjust the master multiplied down or up depending on what battery I'm carrying if its lighter or heavier, but most of the batteries I use for freestyle are around 650-750g.
For longer range, you will want to reduce the master multiplier, as this is quite an agressive tune and filter setup. Please be careful loading these settings straight away, maybe start -0.2 on the master and work up from there.

Every gram counts when you are optimising a quad for long range. The split 4 is capable of recording in 4k at 30fps, or 2.7k at 60fps, while maintaining a latency of about 45-55ms in the goggles.
Not for frantic flip flop maybe, but I’m homping it performs well enough for some long flights in the coming days. 🙌

I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season wherever you are!
As well as the AOS 6 tuning, and RAD Lion prop/motor testing, I have a couple of different analogue quad side DVR’s to try out over the next couple of weeks.
The runcam mini DVR can record up to 640x480 in 3 min segments, and the runcam split can record up to 4K, but with a 60ms latency on the goggles feed (similar to cheaper HD).
Both suit a smaller build that can’t carry an action camera. I’ll be modifying the Oasisfly 25 to test them out with.
