When I was a teenager I remember my mother buying me a handful of DVDs for Christmas one year, including Menace II Society. I had no idea what it was, and needless to say I was blown away.

It definitely made Don't Be A Menace To South Central While Drinking Juice In The Hood make a little more sense 😂

I figured I would pair the movie along with the soundtrack, which is a tracklist jam packed with legends... check it out!

Man WalMart wasn't like this when I was growing up. You have vinyl and uncensored music now. Spoiled!

I lived in a town of a few thousand people where the local music shop was also a Radio Shack, so they had about 60 albums total 😩

And an hour south (where I currently live) there was "The Music Shop" that no longer exists.

Posters, books CDS, tshirts, merch, all those weird 90s odd ball toys but all of them were cool... in cities those places may be everywhere but up North some people have to travel hours if not more.

Anyway. Walmart missed out on a lot of music money back then. Now that (except the resurgence or cd and vinyl buyers) almost no one really buys physical media as a first choice..

Yall finally came around. Better late than never I guess. 🤷‍♂️💿🎧👍🫣

Have always been a collector.

It's too bad I didn't respect it as much I truly loved it as a kid. I wish I saved every old game, console, valuable.

I also wish alcohol didn't exist. But I digress. The only thing I never managed to get rid of was my DVD collection. Which I basically stopped adding to after 2012. Somewhere and there.

Now I bring em out bring em out. And I realized once again how much I loved buying them, and how thankful I have it as an alternative to STREAM slop. So I'm buying again.

The other day I set up this stand and organized shelves by my favorite actor collections and their similar/crossover movies. Other shelves by genre. It was therapeutic and I'd say healing 😂

I've already watched about 4 movies since I set it up.. so it's working.

Next I have ALOT of TV series I want to buy.

And back to CD collecting.

Yesterday was my 37th birthday. On 4-11, 20 years ago... I went to school like any other day. Only to find out emcee Proof left this earth.

What a strike to the gut. I can only imagine how the loved ones around him felt.

They don't make them like Proof no more. Dirty Harry.... 🫡 Rest in power. Thank you for the great music during my childhood.

It was sad to see you go, but my birthday every year reminds me to reminisce and celebrate your music!

One of my top albums from 2003.

G Unit - Beg For Mercy..

This album had to compete with Jay Zs Black Album release day, and still went crazy.

I remember sitting in the bleachers during basketball season, waiting to go in the lockeroom to get ready and this album was all I listened to..

So much good music in 2003 from T.I., OutKast, DMX, Missy Elliot and more...

But 2003 was 50 cent/G Unit..
