Today we remember Adi Guru Bhagwan Shankaracharya on His Jayanti, the one who revived and re-established the depth of Advaita Vedanta in Bharat. Through His teachings, He showed that the Self and Brahman are one, and guided millions of Sadhaks.
At a very young age, He travelled across the Bharat, engaged in debates, and brought clarity to the spiritual path with precision and depth.
May His teachings guide us toward sincerity in Sadhana and steadiness in understanding the true meaning of life.
The student questions the teacher, “What has called my mind to the hunt”? What has made my life begin? What wags in my tongue? What god has opened my eye and ear?”
The teacher answers, It lives in all that lives, hearing through the ear, thinking through the mind, speaking through the tongue, seeing through the eye.
That which makes the tongue speak, but which no tongue can explain, that which makes the mind think, but needs no mind to think, that which makes the eye see but which needs no eye to see, that which makes the ear to hear but which needs no ear to hear, that which makes life, Live, but needs no life to live—that alone is the Soul!
