I am a fiber artist. I make something I call Wildscapes, little plots of nature created from hand-dyed wool yarn, sticks and stones, and hundreds and hundreds of French knots. Texture is at the heart of all I do.
I go live Wednesdays at 12 noon here in California. We chat about finding our creative courage, putting our hearts into art & other creative topics.

Three little wild moments are done. And in the process I figured out a few things to make them easier going forward. And that makes me happy.
Also figured out, with the contractor, a few things to do with the leftover lattice we removed from the fence. And they're working away on all sorts of other outside things.
Less happy is that the painters won't be here until sometime in February. Bummer.

So many things to be happy for today. I finished this little wild moment by mounting it on a piece of wood. (Tried to do less is more but it came out more as more. ) A lovely Zoom chat with a new friend. Construction crew started the little deck outside my studio. They also started the long step at the deck in the back. And our new gray water system is getting installed.

Picture of a silly dog who makes me happy every day by being unashamedly herself. Those feet crack me up. She was sleeping like this until I went to take a picture.

It's been a clean the studio kind of day and that's making me happy. I needed to prep the design wall and some storage area for all the materials for my new big project. Of course that means I needed to find a home for all the stuff I moved away from here, but I'll save that for tomorrow.

Happy New Year. I don’t set resolutions or pick a word for the year anymore. I just want to go into the new year being even more of my authentic self and growing into a better version of myself than the day before.
I’ve been loving seeing people’s compilations of all the work they accomplished through the year. I don’t have the energy to do that and I didn’t keep good track throughout the year, so I’m sharing sharing the largest piece I finished this year, Heart of Gaia, because I think it helped me grow so much as an artist and I gained so much confidence from the project. When your client is in France and picking out her yarns there, it becomes a paper project to discuss yes, no, and how many of each. I will be supplementing with yarns here as well.

It was yard day before the rains come back for what looks like another week. Hubby got the the first jog of the rock wall done which means after the rains the contractor can get the long step assed to this side of the deck. The crew got all the hardware cloth in place for rat proofing under the house. I got a lot more cuttings and seeds in the ground. Can’t wait to see what decides to grow.
My dark star ceanothus (great for under oaks) is teasing me with a few blooms. And my poor silk tassel, sigh, now that it is uncovered from a mess of other stuff it is apparent we forgot to stake it. The main trunk is growing sideways. I don’t know isf the straight shoots will take over if I cut off the sides that are laying over. If it wasn’t going to go straight into the path, I would leave. Need to do some research.
So a very satisfying day and that makes me happy.
