Telangana’s Strength is its Young, Skilled Talent

Hyderabad Emerging as a Global Destination for International Companies: Sridhar Babu

Hyderabad, October 7: Telangana’s biggest strength is its young, highly skilled and globally competitive talent pool, which is driving the growth of global technology and financial services companies in the State, said IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu.

Addressing the 30th anniversary celebrations of D. E. Shaw India held in Jubilee Hills on wednesday, the Minister said D. E. Shaw’s three-decade journey in Hyderabad was a testimony to the company’s long-term confidence in the city and in Telangana’s exceptional talent.

The Minister congratulated Mr. Eddie Fishman, Mr. Anoop Prasad and Mr. Neil Katz, Managing Directors of the D. E. Shaw Group, on the milestone. He also extended his greetings to Mr. Chaitanya Gorrepati and Mr. Lakshmi Prasad Koneti, Managing Directors and key leaders of D. E. Shaw India, and the entire D. E. Shaw team.

From 20 Employees to More Than 2,000

Mr. Sridhar Babu said D. E. Shaw was among the early global financial and technology companies to recognise Hyderabad’s potential and establish its first India office in the city in 1996.

“From a small beginning with around 20 people, D. E. Shaw India has grown to more than 2,000 employees across Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Gurugram. Its teams in India are today contributing globally across technology, financial research, financial operations and corporate functions,” he said.

The Minister said D. E. Shaw’s three-decade growth was closely linked to Hyderabad’s transformation into a global technology and financial services hub.

‘Hyderabad is a Key Global Centre’

“Hyderabad has transformed significantly over the last three decades. Today, it is one of India’s leading destinations for technology, innovation, financial services and Global Capability Centres. Our greatest strength is our young, highly skilled and globally competitive talent,” Mr. Sridhar Babu said.

He said the Telangana Government was working to create an ecosystem where global companies could not only establish operations but also undertake high-value activities, drive innovation and develop technologies for the future.

“Our objective is to ensure that global companies expand in Telangana, innovate here and create high-value employment opportunities. The Government is committed to creating an environment conducive to such growth,” he said.

New Office at Neopolis

The Minister welcomed D. E. Shaw’s new purpose-built office at Neopolis, describing it as another indication of the company’s continued confidence in Hyderabad.

“The new D. E. Shaw office at Neopolis is not merely another workplace. It is a strong signal of the company’s confidence in Hyderabad’s future and Telangana’s growth story,” he said.

The new facility would provide further scope for D. E. Shaw to expand its operations in Hyderabad, he added.

“We welcome this expansion and look forward to seeing D. E. Shaw grow further in Telangana,” Mr. Sridhar Babu said.

Government Support to Industry

The Minister assured global companies that the Telangana Government would continue to provide all possible support for their growth and expansion.

“I assure the D. E. Shaw leadership that the Telangana Government will extend every possible support for your growth and expansion. We will continue working with industry to strengthen infrastructure, talent development, ease of doing business and innovation,” he said.

He said the State Government’s objective was to make Telangana an even more attractive destination for global technology and financial services companies.
