Dr. Lee's Teen FND Academy™
Last Wednesday, we shared a must-watch conversation with a father and his daughter that has stayed with us.
A family who had already tried seven different approaches…
Still showed up one more time.
Not because they were certain.
But because they weren’t ready to give up.
And what unfolded from there…
You can feel it.
Not just progress.
Not just improvement.
But something deeper:
A parent stepping into leadership.
A teen rediscovering herself.
A relationship coming back to life.
If you’ve ever wondered what this process can actually look like inside a real family…
This is one worth watching.

THIS is a must-see, one-of-a-kind video we built just for you.
Because most people have no idea what you or your teen are going through with FND.
We put our heads together and worked extensively with a cartoon artist to piece by piece illustrate:
What causes FND
What keeps it going
How people get stuck in it
And that there is a way out — YOU CAN get your life back
This must-watch short explainer is something you can share with others so they can finally understand what you’re going through. ❤️

Parents of teens with FND —
If you’ve been searching for answers, you’ve probably run into a lot of confusing information that makes recovery feel uncertain or even impossible.
One thing I see often is how common myths about FND can leave families feeling stuck, unsure what to do next.
Today’s mini-lesson:
Many of the most frustrating roadblocks in FND recovery actually come from misunderstandings about what FND is — and what recovery really requires.
Here are 5 myths I see most often:
• “The symptoms aren’t real.”
FND symptoms are real neurological symptoms. Your teen is not imagining them.
• “All the tests are normal, so nothing is wrong.”
FND usually doesn’t show up on structural scans because the issue is how the brain and body are communicating.
• “We just have to wait for symptoms to go away.”
Recovery happens by gradually rebuilding normal activity and movement, not by waiting.
• “My teen will never get their life back.”
The brain can learn new patterns. With the right approach, many teens regain control over their bodies and their lives.
• “Parents have to fix everything.”
Parents play a powerful role, but recovery also involves helping teens learn the skills to regulate their own nervous system.
In the video I posted on Saturday, I walk through each of these myths and explain what actually helps teens move forward in recovery.

Dr. Lee's Teen FND Academy™
In case you missed Saturday's video, I walk through a research study that looked at what might be happening in the brains of children and teens with FND.
In the study, researchers compared 32 children with FND to 41 children without FND.
They used a type of brain scan that measures brain chemistry, which helps researchers see how different brain regions are functioning.
What they found were differences in the chemistry of certain brain networks in the kids with FND.
The areas where they saw differences are parts of the brain involved in things like:
• planning movement
• regulating emotions
• monitoring what the body is doing
• the brain’s sense of control over actions
Studies like this matter because they help show that there are measurable differences in how the brain is functioning in children with FND.
That’s important for families who are often told things like:
“It’s just anxiety.”
The symptoms children experience with FND are real neurological experiences, even though standard MRI scans often look normal.
This study doesn’t mean the brain is damaged, and it doesn’t mean recovery isn’t possible.
What it does show is that researchers are beginning to identify differences in how certain brain systems are operating, which helps us better understand the condition.
If you want to see the study explained in simple terms and understand what it may mean for families, you can watch the full video here:
