The only way I could think to talk about MF DOOM was to speak about the legacy he leaves behind; the artists that loved and admired him.

Latest video is up in my music history series. This time looking at rap before it became an integral part of Hip Hop in the 1970s. We talk street poets, the dozens, radio DJs and a few other things too.

Very happy with how this turned out, take a look!

Latest video in my series on music history is now live, looking at Rapper's Delights fraught place as the "first hip hop record", and why it really isn't that at all.

Continuing my series looking at pop music history, I'm considering the idea that Hip Hop died 40 years ago. The culture looked so dramatically different in the 1970s that it's an idea worth exploring.

I haven't updated this channel in a long time, but I've started a new series looking at pop music history on my personal channel.

I'm starting with the origins of Hip Hop, and Kool DJ Herc. Known to many as the Father of Hip Hop, Kool Herc isn't the only DJ who could claim to have a role in the development of Hip Hop as a style and a culture. This is the story of the culture that existed around Kool Herc and his mystique.
