Don't mind me doing some promo, but I figured that since I have a subscriber-base that is likely to be interested in a). ranking and b). mainstream EDM, I would give some promotion to a rankdown that I am hosting over on the Talk Of The Charts discord server, and possibly expose this a different audience!
For context, over on the Talk Of The Charts discord server there has been a ranking series where a group of people (myself included) rank and adjusted version of the US Billboard Dance/Electronic Year-End lists for every year since 2013, with those results being aggregated to determine the general consensus on certain songs - the results of which are visible in this playlist (youtube.com/playlist?list=PLr2KgGjQjT069en-j1UvucZ…. In the midst of this, I thought it would be interesting to shine a light on some of the songs that just missed - the 'EDM Extras' - and as such I found the biggest 10 songs from each year since the charts inception to miss being ranked, and put all of them into 1 playlist! Whilst it is certainly an inconsistent list, there are some real gems of quality from artists like Porter Robinson, Madeon, Kygo, Martin Garrix, Galantis & deadmau5, alongside lesser-known singles and deep cuts from Alan Walker, ILLENIUM, The Chainsmokers & Louis The Child! In total, I feel like songs on this list represent the trend of mainstream dance music since 2013 pretty interestingly, and such I'm recommending this rankdown to some of my subscribers who may not be on the TOTC server! All 110 songs are on the Spotify Playlist attachted, with a list of the songs also provided for formatting purposes!
As far as the technical stuff goes, the deadline for this rankdown is currently the 29th of May 2024 - although I'll keep you guys posted in the likelihood of an extension - and once you have ordered the songs, you can either DM them to me via Discord (@blerg3853) or use this Google Form - forms.gle/gzLMrbB8uUPQrDSg8 - to send me your list, alongside your username/how you want to be referred to in the eventual video. Just for convenience and consistency, PLEASE make sure to number your list from 1-110, and use the artist - song name format given in the document - plus if you're submitting via the Google Form, just an extra reminder to MAKE SURE to provide a name so I know who to attribute the ranking to!
Hopefully this piques some interest from people who wouldn't be aware of this otherwise, and I'm looking forward to seeing your thoughts on these songs!
