just switched my workout routine from first thing in the morning to the afternoon
I used to be a diehard morning work out person but this was mostly out of necessity of working a corporate job and having my afternoon filled with meetings
but in reality I am the most energized to lock and build in the mornings and now I just grind like a crackhead in the AM then once I hit a lull in my productivity in the afternoon I hit the workout and come back feeling way more refreshed
something something productivity maxxing something something sigma grindset something something it ain't that deep bro
I’ve tried so many times in the past to build a product in a certain niche because I thought there was “an opening.” There’s that idea of “outsiders can build great products in a certain industry because they bring a fresh POV to it.”
It was WAYYY harder than I ever thought it would be.
I felt like I couldn’t make any direct product decision myself and I would always have to ask someone in that industry for guidance — velocity was so much slower because of htis.
Now that I build apps that I personally use, I know what to build so much more quickly and can spot bugs without having to rely on Sentry or an actual user to report it to me.
Most importantly I just feel so much more in touch with the product that I build. I care more about the finer details and how well it worked — as an outsider I felt the pain point less, cared less about the end user and just viewed it as business opportunity which set up a bad relationship to myself and the user looking at them as some uuid in my database instead of someone to solve a meaningful problem for.
Just wanted to share one of the best podcast episodes I’ve watched. It’s got me thinking a lot about how to pursue unreasonable excellence in my apps that I’m building and how to stand out from all of the boring companies that already exist. Definitely give it a listen if you can!

New rule I have for any product I build:
Only build a product that I would personally use.

Talking to other founders in the early days of building your product is so distracting
They're typically smart, can talk well, and provide unsolicited feedback that can easily sway you to completely change your product direction
about to go nonverbal for the next 2 months

Xcode's built in coding agent is pretty good

“Im a founder of a product studio” === “I have 10 apps that make $0 MRR because I can’t focus on one app and properly grow it”

does any actually use the Cursor/OpenAI/Claude PR review feature?
I feel like they add more noise than actually useful feedback to my PRs and I just end up ignoring it.
