I’m Rina, and I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes as an adult in 2015. This is when my life changed forever!

T1D is a condition when my pancreas stopped producing insulin. Insulin breaks down the glucose in your body. I am now insulin-dependent and wear the Omnipod insulin pump to self-administer my insulin to manage my blood glucose levels.

This is my 8 year diaversary! I cannot believe how type 1 diabetes has changed my life. I am thankful everyday to wake up and conquer another day.
The last two years my health has been a challenge with one condition unrelated to diabetes- uterine fibroids, which depleted my iron levels and I had zero energy. The surgery was last November and I felt like I was going to get back on track with my healthy lifestyle journey. But this year, I’m being examined for another autoimmune disease called hashimoto- hypothyroidism - depleting my energy as well. This one is related to diabetes.
Both these conditions have knocked me down mentally and physically but I’m in good hands with my medical team and the love and support from my family and friends.
I release all of this and will take it one day at a time with my healing process
