Can the microbes in your gut help distinguish between similar digestive disorders?

New research using multi-meta-omics reveals that Non-Celiac Gluten Sensitivity (NCGS) and Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) have distinct gut microbial signatures—even when their symptoms overlap.

The study highlights unique microbial genes, metabolic pathways, and reduced fructan-degrading capacity in NCGS, offering fresh insights that could support better diagnosis, personalised nutrition, and future microbiome-based therapies.

Discover how advances in microbiome research are shaping the future of precision healthcare.
